Sometimes he rants, sometimes he smiles. Sometimes he jokes, sometimes he sighs. Sometimes he's happy, sometimes he's sad. Sometimes he's good, sometimes he's bad. Sometimes he's there, sometimes he's gone. Sometimes he stalls, sometimes he's done. But whatever Marcelle says, whatever he'd do, you can be sure, it's true! It's true!

A Quiet But Steady Month
It's really hard to speak about relationships without some measure of skepticism or paranoia after what yours truly has been through, but I'm surprised to find myself here right now.
At the moment, I'm really just glad. Chanty has been just wonderful, and I can't quite explain how good we have been for each other. One month in, and it feels every bit as sweet and as surreal as it has since day one.
It's a great time for us right now, and I'm all smiles.
Ultimately, there isn't any reason to look back on what was and what came before this. All that matters is that what was, what is, and what will be all melt in the face of the truth.
And the truth is, she has been wonderful. And she has made a positive difference in my life. Is there anything else one can ask for, really?
Happy monthsary to us, Pancakes.

How Chowking Completed My Life: On Meeting Kim Chiu
Last night, in celebration of Chinese New Year, Chowking asked several bloggers and media people to go to Mercato and be a witness to Chowking’s as they celebrated the way only they could: with a bang.
The whole thing was hosted by Ms. Lyn Ching, who was as eye-catching as ever, and she actually remembered me from my several guestings for Unang Hirit in the past. It was really great meeting her again, and after three years, it finally occurred to me to have a photo taken with her...
She is still awesome! Photo from Russel.
Anyways, as she went through the signature dishes of Chowking with father and son chefs Gene and Gino Gonzalez, who cooked their own versions of sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, and tender beef broccoli, as the audience’s mouths watered with each dish, although we did have some dimsum and some Chicharap for appetizers. As the ineffable Lyn Ching talked up the tastes and sensations of each delightful morsel while poking fun at herself for her supposedly imperfect figure, two of the brand ambassadors of Chowking also made an appearance that night, which made the whole thing even more exciting.
Of course, as everyone can assume, Mr. Jericho Rosales himself was there, which was all good, but more importantly...
Kim Chiu was there.
This features the Marcelle Fabie seal of approval! Photo from Bambi.
From the moment I got the invite to this event, the main reason I went was because, as I told my organizer friend, “You had me at ‘hosted by Kim Chiu.’” I was hoping to run into the lovely young lady, and while I talked a big game of approaching her and leaving a lasting impression, it was pretty clear to everyone on my table, from Arpee to Bambi to Russel that I was not going to be cool and unflappable that night.
My heart was pounding every single time I was within ten feet of Kim Chiu, and I wasn’t sure that I wouldn’t faint if I managed to so much as talk to her. In fact, the only time I could remember myself having a smile this huge was three years ago, when I met Rick Astley during his party in Alchemy (And now that I mention it, that doesn’t sound like a very manly thing to say...).
Mas singkit pa ako kay Kim Chiu sa sobrang ngiti ko! Photo from Russel.
I finally mustered up the courage to have a photo taken with her, and she was kind enough to oblige me. I stood there, grinning from ear to ear like a complete idiot, and the pictures were taken, then I offered a handshake and a heartfelt thank-you to Ms. Chiu, all while I was doing everything I could to keep myself from hyperventilating in front of her.
Unfortunately, she was looking away, and one of the organizers had to tap her on the shoulder to say I was sticking my hand out to thin air. She smiled sheepishly, shook my hand, then said...
“Sorry po, kuya!”
I was mortified, and if I turned any redder, they’d probably think I was already bleeding. But for the rest of the night, I was beaming proudly because finally, after all this time, I have met the undeniably gorgeous and incomparably flexible Kim Chiu. Only Chowking has made this possible for me, so what else can I say but “thanks” to those amazing people who not only serve great and affordable Chinese food, but also made me smile genuinely for the first time in a long while?
I think I need to have my heart rate checked... picture from Bambi

On Lovey-Doveys And Disenchantment
Can’t believe how quick things turned out, but I’m relishing the moments spent with my Lovey-Dovey. Suddenly, my Christmas wasn’t cold any longer.
.:DK Goings-On:.
I must say, being online while on the Disenchanted Kingdom has allowed me to keep up with on-air discussions better, if only for the fact that I’m more capable of contributing to the conversation on the fly because even if I’m lost and clueless about a certain topic, I now have the capability to look it up.
Last Monday and Tuesday, the DK episodes have been quite entertaining, amid all the veiled tones Logan masterfully interjected into the flow of the show. It was a bit surprising to find out about Brittany Murphy’s unfortunate passing last Monday, but overall, I was finding it easier to interact with Marf, Pom, Logan, and Cleo throughout the program. After that, we actually swung by the ToyCon just because we all thought it’d be really cool to go there and see what’s going on.
The “Plant Man” moniker does persist, but I personally don’t think it applies anymore, especially when Tuesday’s episode came along, which to me, was even better.
Thing is, Logan started talking about how people in corporate boardroom meetings seem to always be spouting clichés that don’t really mean anything at all. I recalled seeing a bingo card online though, and it’s apparently a little game employees happen to play when meetings are way too boring. Watch out for buzzwords like “negotiating a win-win situation” and “movers and shakers in the pipeline” during a meeting, and you’d understand that a lot of this stuff is really just meaningless drivel being thrown in to sound substantial.
Just like the words “anyways” and “in any case!” But I digress.
I gave them my presents last Thursday, and had to miss out on the Christmas episode on Friday because I was predictably with my family. Nonetheless, it’s good to know that the presents I carefully picked for each of them went over with them very well, whether it was the Batmobile for Marf, or Quagmire for Cleo, or the Vader Mr. Potato Head for Logan. The day before that, I swung by Chico during his shift on RX (Didn’t know Delle was on leave when I went.) and gave him my presents for him and Delle. It was all good, really.
I had a very abbreviated Christmas list, but that’s mainly because I really do think my presents over before I just hand something to someone. I remember that outside of family, the only other person I had was the Ice Queen, and I had to have a lot of assistance there just to ensure I got something she’d like.
To me, in an age of commercialism and materialism, putting a little love into your presents could do so much to change someone’s Christmas for that year.
Having said that, Monday was a pretty cool day as well. Pom was exceptionally generous with presents, and I received candy cigarettes from the man. That was just way cool. They were ribbing me quite a bit as well because at the end of Friday’s show, Cleo happily announced that I was in a relationship already, and of course, Logan and Marf just need to chime in on that. Even had a moment where I got to pick Cleo’s brain for a few minutes after the show as well, and I can’t be any happier for her as far as how things are going...
This has been a nice way to cap off what was a very challenging year. Here’s hoping things move on the up and up come 2010.

The Sweetest Thing...
... I was worried sick about my Beloved during the Rihanna/Chris Brown concert, but before all that, she actually drove to my house just to hug me.
Sweetest thing ever.

Staying Up So I Can Write This...
I don't know what to say, so please give me license to be extremely sappy for you today...
I miss you so much, and I hope you do well in your board exams. I love you soooooo much!!!
No Doubt...
by MisterVader
No matter how I look at this, no matter what I say
I'm just grateful you're in my life to this day
At times I ask myself where we go from here
But that I want to be with you is crystal clear
Call me sappy, call me a fool for you
We know that this is what I know I can do
And show you how much you mean to me
There's no doubt with whom my heart wants to be
My Beloved, these meager words may not be much
But I love you with all my heart, and as such
There's no doubt how my heart is yearning
This passion I have is still burning
.:A Serious Rickroll: Lyrically Speaking Scribbles, Part XI:.
Don't laugh. I mean every single word.
Never Gonna Give You Up
by Rick Astley
We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I...
You and I have had our share of love and heartbreak, and while we're a little older and a little wiser, it's still our hearts on the line. You and I are no spring chicken to relationships, but that's also exactly why both of us have so much baggage to deal with when it comes to how we deal with each other...
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy...
You can keep hurting me, but for as long as you ask me to stay, I will. I've given my heart to you, and there's no taking it back, as far as I'm concerned. I've given everything, and I hope you see that.
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand...
Sometimes, in the heat of things, it's easy to take for granted how we feel about each other. Don't look past everything we've shared, and everything we've gone through. I want you to see how much this relationship has changed both of us for the better.
We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
It's been years, my Beloved. I know for the longest time, even in the middle of this one and a half years we've been together, you still hold back. You're still afraid to be hurt. Afraid that the circumstances surrounding us will prove to be insurmountable for us to work out.
It's all a state of mind. If you believe it, you know it will happen. Don't let me be in this alone, my Beloved. I believe in you. I believe in us.
Inside we both know whats been going on
We know the game and were gonna play it...
It's not a game, truth be told. It's about you and I finding a chance to share forever with each other. Whether or not we succeed, you and I will have given it our all because it was well worth the effort.
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see...
I wish you the best on your birthday. I give you my love, my loyalty, my affection, and everything else I could offer you. Thank you for having been a wonderful part of my life. I can't thank you enough for it, knowing all too well that you could very well be my once-in-a-lifetime.
Sometimes, you ask me why I'm still here with you despite everything. To that, I ask, why not? Is not the fact that I love you enough reason for you to know that I'm...
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
I'm far from perfect, and maybe I've only fulfilled 80% of that chorus. But at the end of the day, you know that I love you with all my heart, and that in my own, simple way, this is how I wish to show you my love and affection. Call it corny or sappy or retarded, but it's straight from the heart, and you know that I mean it when I say that I love you.
Happy birthday, Rowena, my Beloved. I thank you for being a special part of my life, and I will keep on fighting for this relationship for as long as you want me to because you know you are worth it. I love you so much, and you mean everything to me.
I'm never gonna give you up.

Randomicity Again...
S-T-U-D-Y-I-N-G.
What else did you expect from a guy "studying" for radio, and his Beloved, studying for the nursing boards, right?
Having said that,my Beloved and I spent time yesterday talking over the phone, and we had this nice moment where I just ran my phone's song player, and we just played different songs throughout the conversation.
It was really nice having that time with my Beloved because things have been very hectic for the both of us lately. There's really something great about being able to have the chance to just bond through music, and given how torn I feel about things career-wise as of late, I guess this is a good reprieve.
Below are the lyrics to the song I dedicated to my Beloved. Sometimes, when I think about her, I realize how lucky I am to have been loved by someone like her, and then end up thinking that maybe I'm so out of my league to be hoping to have someone like her in my life...
Out Of My League
by Stephen Speaks
It's her hair and her eyes today
That just simply take me away
And the feeling that I'm falling further in love
Makes me shiver but in a good way
All the times i have sat and stared
As she thoughtfully thumbs through her hair
And she purses her lips, bats her eyes as she plays,
With me sitting there slack-jawed and nothing to say
'Cause I love her with all that I am
And my voice shakes along with my hands
'Cause she's all that I see and she's all that I need
And I'm out of my league once again
It's a master for melody when she calls out my name to me
As the world spins around her she laughs, rolls her eyes
And I feel like I'm falling but it's no surprise
'Cause I love her with all that I am
And my voice shakes along with my hands
'Cause it's frightening to be swimming in this strange sea
But I'd rather be here than on land
Yes she's all that I see and she's all that I need
And I'm out of my league once again
It's her hair and her eyes today
That just simply take me away
And the feeling that I'm falling further in love
Makes me shiver but in a good way
All the times I have sat and stared
As she thoughtfully thumbs through her hair
And she purses her lips, bats her eyes as she plays,
With me sitting there slack-jawed and nothing to say
'Cause I love her with all that I am
And my voice shakes along with my hands
'Cause it's frightening to be swimming in this strange sea
But I'd rather be here than on land
Yes she's all that I see and she's all that I need
And I'm out of my league once again
.:Return To Reedley:.
Dropped by Reedley International School at lunchtime, and as you can easily guess, I performed for them again, and it was a really great one, since I was introduced to the new faculty members in quite a fashion... heh.
At the same time, Ms. Wamilda even told me that during school meetings, they still acknowledge me as part of the English department, if only for the fact that I'm still associated with RIS as a club moderator. I can't leave that place, truth be told. I certainly miss Reedley, and you can be sure that it won't be long before I find myself back to the same old tricks with the people there.
It was great dropping by the school again. I miss being a part of the Reedley family, and I'm glad that to some extent, I'm still there, and still doing my part in touching lives as teachers are wont to do.

In Here, I Gush...
I didn't think running errands could be so fun.
I was there with my Beloved as she tried to get her clearance from the places she had nursing duty in. We went to Mandaluyong Medical Center, then Rizal Medical Center, and we thankfully resolved a lot of the problems we initially had.
I had the beer appreciation thing later that night, but I'll cover that in some other post. Right now, I'm just out to gush, and with good reason.
It has been a while, since my Beloved and I could spend a lot of time together, mainly because for the past schoolyear, I've been awfully busy, what with schoolwork and teaching in Reedley at the same time. Half of my weekends were occupied too, thanks to my shows.
For me to have this much time with her now, and on consecutive days, no less, is a big deal to me, and I'm thankful for it.
.:Friday Frolics:.
On Friday, I was with my Beloved in PWU Taft, when she invited me to be with her at the last possible moment.
I was even invited to her graduation! How can I not get stoked over all of that?
I hope I've been making up for being an absentee boyfriend for quite a while. I'm all smiles when she told me she really felt lately that we've reached new heights in this relationship...
Any bigger, and this grin on my face would rip my mouth clean off...

Oh. Em. Gee.
... I just have to say that during my class this morning, one of my students decided to end his interview by asking his interviewee to go steady with him.
I may be jaded, but I still get giddy with stuff like this every now and then.

There's something quite wonderful about walking home someone dear to you...
Goshdarnit, I'm so giddy again...
