Life Gets In The Way. I'm Not Complaining

.:Life Gets In The Way:.

But it's all good, really, and I don't mind. Work in the office has been pretty hectic but awesome, what with all the stuff I've had to come up with for the 8List. You might notice that I've been coughing up lists there, and writing on the POC on a sorta regular basis, and with everything I do currently geared towards my Australian trip, I honestly don't miss blogging that much as of late.
And that's fine, I suppose. I have a lot on my plate, and while I'd love to blog about it all, I try my best to let snippets off it get through on my Twitter or Facebook. I'm going through life at a breakneck pace lately, and I only have games of Tekken Card Tournament to take my mind off of a lot of the stress that's been eating at me, so I suppose I should be very grateful, all things considered.

Our food truck is up and running in Andare, just outside Glorietta, during the weekends. It's called Kuyang, and the food is splendid. You really should go and try it if you're ever in the area. There's still the Rowdy Empire, although KDL has been doing the show by his lonesome for a while already, and I join him every now and then from 9-12 midnight on a Monday or Tuesday, although he's there Mondays to Thursdays.

Yes, I still do my standup comedy and I still do or watch improv, and yes, I'm still very much a mentalist. Wait 'til you see the new stuff I've been up to, even. Overall, life hasn't changed insomuch as it's just been filled with a whole lot more stuff for me to be busy and occupied with. That's something I can't really complain about, even if I do feel like I'm swamped most of the time.
I'm just counting down the days to when I go to Australia, and I hope with all ferventness that things will go swimmingly well once I'm there. Otherwise, I guess I'm going to be a sad sack for a loooong while. Well, what can I do, right?

If anybody actually misses my writing, just check out my output on the 8List. I'm pretty proud of what I've managed to come up with there.

Out Of Circulation...

.:Yet Another "It's Been A While" Post...:.

Hey. It's been a while.

Well, I wish I could say this is the turning point and I'll be back to my legendary blogging of old, but it isn't. If anything, it's a realization that blogging has become less and less an important part of my life as more things actually happen in it to the point where I can't find time for anything else any longer.

That being said, though, I wish I could make an effort to blog more, really. I want to keep documenting what's been going on in my life and to just see for myself what it all means for me. It's all crazy sometimes, really.

In any case, I'm pretty bushed, and a lot of that is because I had to fix my Australian Visa, as I'm headed to that country sometime next month. That's been eating most of my time, as has been the stuff I've been doing for work, especially with the 8List going into full swing lately. I've been reconnecting with My Beloved, and surprisingly, the Gynius as well. Will wonders never cease.

It's been a crazy time for me, and I'm hoping I can make heads and tails of it soon enough, especially with how I'm trying to get back into the thick of mentalism and everything else in between.

Someday, it'll all make sense. All of it. But for now, I will just remain a tad dazed and confused, I suppose.

On Today's Tragic News...

.:I Need To Get On My Soapbox Briefly...:.

I've been delinquent with blogging, what with My Beloved back in Australia, and all the things I have to deal with at work lately. It's been a time of transition and adjustment for me, and it feels wildly frustrating.

Of course, it is with a heavy heart that I discovered that the great Subas Herrero passed away today. He lived a full life, I believe, and he will be missed. It is sad, indeed, but not necessarily tragic.

However, what is tragic is that today, a 16-year old has apparently taken her life as she was consumed by a system that refused to help her out when she was down. And as much as I'd like to be on my high horse while I'm on my soapbox, too, I realize that in my complicity and complacency, some of that blame falls squarely upon me.

Which is precisely why the last thing I would do is to blame her for it, and to tell her what she did is wrong. It's an exercise of futility: she's not even there to hear it.

I am not a psychologist by practice. I am not the most empathic person around. Despite that, this is not the time nor the place to push one's moral agenda in the middle of a tragedy, and one that could have been prevented, in the first place. I had no desire to jump on the bandwagon, and I will probably jump off it as quickly as I came on it once I get to say what I need to say.

Over on Twitter, I had some very choice words for someone who decided that sensitivity was not the order of the day, and was shocked when he got his back. It upset me to no end because I realized that here was a person who failed to see that this girl who took her own life was a victim, and we don't go around blaming victims.

I think back to the countless gay kids who have killed themselves because they were bullied relentlessly for who they were. I think back to how it must have felt to be in their shoes, and the awful things that they must have gone through, and I cannot, for the life of me, find it in my heart to condemn them. They were already condemned by their tormentors in their lives. Why would I choose to add to that in their deaths?

They were victims, as this 16-year old student was also a victim. Do I want to play the blame game from here? No. I'm not going to even go there. But I just refuse to take it sitting down that someone would dare attack this student, as if she even had any means of defending herself, whatsoever. She does not.

We say of those who have left us: "rest in peace." That's the least we could offer someone whose only true mistake was to put her faith in a system that failed her. And I, for one, choose to do so.

I do not know you, child. I have never met you. But may you rest in peace.

Song Lyrics: After All This Time, by The Itchyworms

.:After All This Time:.

Everyone knows how much of a fan I am of The Itchyworms, and how I've opened for them a few times before in the past.

After all these years, this is my only picture with the whole band!

Well, recently, they came out with a new song, and it's called "After All This Time." The first thing you will notice about it is that... it's an English song. Surprise, surprise! They're actually bilingual! Well, just kidding. We've heard "Season Of Smiles" before... heh.

The second thing you'll notice is that apparently, Jazz is handling lead vocal duties for this particular song, and it's awesome!

Anyways, if you've been living under a rock filled with nothing but bad OPM, let's change that right now with their official music video...

Sniff. Something got in my eye.

Doesn't the song just hit the spot? It really hit home for me, considering where I am in my life right now, and it's been nearly four years, when I think about it. Still, what a wonderful song, and I can't help but be reminded of how many songs The Itchyworms have had that never fails to really affect me to my very core. To put it in the vernacular, nakaka-antig ang mga kanta nila.

So. I checked online for lyrics and all that. Guess what? There were none! Since I was willing to keep listening to the song on loop anyways, I decided to take matters into my own hands, so with
all due credit to Jugs, Kel, Chino, and Jazz, here goes nothing...

After All This Time
by The Itchyworms

Walkin’ away
From what I felt would never end
Lookin’ okay
But deep inside, I’m lost in time

It’s never over
What I feel for you won’t die
We’re all getting older
But my heart keeps asking why

Refrain:

‘Cause I’ve thrown away my lucky stars
And my wishes don’t come true
I’ve been lookin’ up to heaven
While I’m cryin’ over you

‘Cause I can’t forget the good times
We’ve had when you were mine
I just wonder if you need me still
After all this time

I just wonder if you need me still
After all this time

You turned away
I called you back, but it’s no use
What can I say?
Now I know I’ve got nothing to lose

Sometimes I still miss you
I just wanted you to know
I can’t be without you
‘Cause my heart never stopped, I just had to give up

Repeat Refrain

Bridge:

I wanna know when you stopped tryin’
You’re part of all that I’ve been through
Were all these years of hopin’ for you just a waste of time?
‘Cause whatever I do
(Whatever I do)
It’s no good without you

(Insert rippin’ guitar solo here!!!)

So I’ve thrown away my lucky stars
‘Cause my wishes don’t come true
(Wishes don’t come true)
I’ve been lookin’ up to heaven
While I’m cryin’ over you
(Cryin’ over you)

‘Cause I can’t forget the good times
We’ve had when you were mine
I just wonder if you need me still
(Wonder if you still need me still)
Wonder if you need me still
After all this time
(After all this time)
After all this time
(Time)
After all this time
(Time)

Halaga

.:Sa Libu-Libong Pagkakataon Na Tayo'y Nagkasama...:.

Currently have this song on repeat as I fill my head with thoughts of her, as she leaves me on a jetplane for a long, long while.

The things I found out in the time she was here, the things I learned, sent me to a point of anger I never thought I'd reach. Some people just really don't know what they have and choose to squander someone's love, someone's devotion, like some cheap toy they could easily get from anywhere.

She deserved better than that. And she did nothing to ever deserve the kind of hurt and betrayal that came her way after me.

So to you who hurt her, to you who never knew how wonderful a woman she was, and how she meant the world to me, only for you to treat her like dirt, I hope you suffer dearly for that. I hope I never see even just your shadow because you will rue the day that happens.

All I ever wanted was her happiness. Even if it meant somebody else. But you? You ruined that for her. You almost shattered her wide-eyed innocence and her trust in the goodness of the world as you played her for a fool.

And you have the temerity to act like it was nothing, you son of a bitch? This was all a game to you?!? I've never seen anything more deplorable, and quite frankly, I am sickened to the bone by people like you.

I despise you. I despise you with every bone in my body. But for as long as I am here, I will turn all that hatred into good. I will be there for her. I will show her that there is such a thing as true, steadfast love. Because she deserves it. Which is far more than can be said of you, and far more than anything you could ever be capable of giving in your miserable excuse of a life.

You will be forgotten. But she will be loved.

So. February 14 Again.

.:Single Awareness Day!:.

My opinion of the day hasn't changed much, if at all. A promise of someone "making up" apparently was a promise ill-made, and I ended up spending most of the day in the loving arms of a good steak from Tender Bob's.

Served to me by a guy ALSO named Bob...

So I guess there's that, at least? Never been a fan of the occasion, and let's face it: the world would be a far, far better place without it, so nah, don't bother asking me how mine is turning out. Could be better, but could have also been worse, so I guess let me just relish the steak, maybe?

And here I thought I'd have you in my ear the whole day...

What A Heavy Week!

.:I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In...:.

Because I have no shame, I went ahead and actually made some silly images this past week. The first one was in response to Kim Jong Un's mystery smartphone. After due research, I found out what the brand was!

Not very proud of that joke, but whatever.

But more importantly, in another story, there has been some buzz about Victoria Court's #WhereNext? campaign, as a priest wanted the billboard in Pasay taken down, citing that the billboards could lead to immorality. Of course. Because a billboard that doesn't feature one half-naked model implying Victoria Court would create a direct link to people who don't know what Victoria Court is usually famous for, right?

Would you prefer a Sogo "So Clean... So Good" billboard instead?

Well, whatever. I figured that to prove that these billboards don't necessarily have to lead to sex, I could create my own version. After all, how could anyone possibly think of anything dastardly with this one I cooked up?

Holy all night long.

.:Insanity Guaranteed:.

Pretty crazy week at work, but one of the best respites I had was when the fine people at Ford took a few of us for a ride to Binondo, where we ended up meeting the very famous Ivan Man-Dy, who took us on a walking food tour along good old Chinatown.

I feel weird knowing I'm the only one without a driver's license in this shot.

Now, this was far from my first dance at having a food tour in Binondo. Despite that, I wanted to see exactly how different my makeshift tour for friends was from a professional tour as done by Ivan, and the differences, while definitely clear, also highlighted how similar my tour was, in that we essentially hit mostly the same destinations.

It was great that I rode with Neil of 99.5 RT fame to Binondo, really. We had a lot of catching up to do, and he brought me up to speed why I would want a Ford for myself the moment I get a license.

New Po Heng. Dong Bei. The Carvajal street market. Ho-Land. Except for the fried siopao stop, this particular version of the food tour was, step by step, pretty much the same as the last one I ran for Chad and Gail. I wasn't complaining, though, because Ivan's wealth of knowledge not just about the food but even cultural quirks we would take for granted when we focus just on chowing down, really.

Having said that, there's absolutely no reason to miss the lumpia, the oyster cake, the fried chicken, the dumplings, the fried siopao, the hopia, and all the other amazing stuff you would find in Binondo if you ever end up in the area! My only complaint, though, is that White Rabbit is now really a contraband item, and you can't find it where we did last time in Carvajal.

And of course, aside from kiamoy, lest we forget, one of my favorite things about going to Binondo and Dong Bei in particular would be their ever-awesome Wong Lo Kat drink. It just really takes the heatiness away to a whole different level!

A Season Of Grace...

.:A Season Of Grace...:.

Now, now. It'd be a good idea to leave the puns at home over this one, though.

It's been a great week so far, even if it's been a tad stressful. Spent yesterday at the Rowdy Empire with King DJ Logan and Dani, and that was pretty interesting, and it sure made me feel very, very happy to still be in radio in some shape or form.

Pictured: JJ Abrams on radio?

Overall, it was a pretty cool show, even if we had to make a lot of adjustments on the fly. It was a fun time for everyone involved, and I must say, the sooner I can do this more often, the happier I would be, definitely.

Tried not to tackle the downer issue about Carlos Celdran getting sentenced to jail time, as I felt that it didn't really suit the matter. We instead went and discussed how amazingly observant the PNP were when they pointed out that in their expert opinion, security lapses led to the Megamall robbery last Saturday. No, really? That's news to us!

With the explosion in the Fort today (That's like the second one since Judd and I caught one a few years back!) and the other shooting incident in Robinson's Magnolia, it seems there have been a spate of public disturbances lately that might be cause for panic for the fidgety among us.

.:The Thankless Job Of Judging:.

Las week, I actually went and judged a cosplay competition for a certain school, and sourgraping hit myself and my co-judges when the cosplayers didn't agree with our results, essentially saying behind our backs that we "had no idea how to judge."

The funny thing? 35% of the criteria indeed went to costumes, but just as weighty was the 35% to stage performance. The thing is, none of the cosplayers saw each other perform because they were all behind the stage waiting for their turn, so unless they have X-Ray vision, they were in no position to make these claims, either.

Oh, well.

.:Wakeboarding!:.

Also last weekend, I finally went wakeboarding again after a year, and given that My Beloved and I are going to be doing it with some regularity now, you can rest assured I'm going to get the hang of it - even if I did do kneeboarding this time out.

Elegant form as I stumble while not even in the water.

Well, what can I say? With Angel going with us to Deca in Clark last Sunday, I was simply amazed at how accessible wakeboarding has ended up being for us thanks to this new venue. I bet my friends from Japan, Australia, and Taiwan would be so proud to see me finally work towards a goal I set for myself a year ago, and yes, I'm gonna be back in Clark sometime next week!

It's great in Deca Clark, and if you really want to give wakeboarding a try but have no desire to go to CamSur yet, then you should go and give this place a shot!

She is perfect.

The most important thing to note, by the way, is just today, she got the job in Australia that she wanted. I am so proud of My Beloved!!!

You know I am.

.:The 10th Kanto:.

I've been opening for the great Mike Unson for the past couple of years, so it's awesome to be a part of his 10th year anniversary show on February 9. You get to catch awesome performances all around that night, and it would really be awesome and mean so much to me if you guys could come and watch us in Gweilo's on that night.

Mike is, in my book, the premiere standup comic of the Philippines. I have nothing but good things to say about the man, and to see him still standing and an undisputed success after ten years of this is something I am honored to be a part of.

I hope to see you guys there!

Ooooh. Delinquent.

.:Well, wow.:.

It’s been weeks, and I haven’t realized how delinquent I’ve been with my blogging. It hasn’t been easy, really. Balancing writing for The 8List, dropping in on WAVE, where the one and only King DJ Logan now finds himself, and a host of other things, but most important of them all, finding time to spend with My Beloved, whether I be reading The Kite Runner to her ‘til she falls asleep, or just doing a drive-by hug for all of five minutes.

It’s been difficult, and it has made me reconsider if it’s time to finally call it a day with my blog. It’s not like I’m setting the world on fire with my blogging anyways, and unsurprisingly, I’m too busy living my life to spend an inordinate amount of time writing about it. By now, I’d have written about, say, coral reefs, or Ricky Lo’s interview, or Les Miserables itself, or even the fact that a year from now, we’re likely sending a Filipino to space, courtesy of Axe. Or the funny coincidences involving my old friend, Christine.

And yes, given that the office sponsored Les Mis for all of us and we all pretty much got to watch the same movie, it almost seemed like a sure bet that I was going to a barricaded office the next day, with my co-workers singing "Do You Hear The People Sing" while setting up the barricade. Alack and alas, this did not come to pass.

Yes! This means I should've taken pictures with my co-workers last night! I was so negligent, and I apologize for that.

Despite all that, despite the see saw of life getting the best of me sometimes, I am happy. Immeasurably so. And that is enough to go by for now. Blogging will follow. There’s always Twitter and Facebook to put my thoughts in for now, I guess?

And yes, I’m enjoying the little gadgets I’ve purchased over the past couple of months. They have definitely served me well. Heh.

My wallet is complaining, though.

The 2012 Year-In-Review Survey...

.:The 2012 Year-In-Review Survey...:.

1. What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?

I hit the gym and took up boxing, went wakeboarding, got into improv comedy, wrote for the 8List, and loved like I never have before.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I didn't lose two pounds a month, but from September onwards, I did learn to eat healthier and lost quite a bit of weight that way. For 2013, I resolve to make My Beloved happier than she has ever been.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Kathy Chua!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Close to me? Not so close, but Butch Maniego passed away, and that stunned me. My grandmother passed away early this year, so that kind of felt almost like 2012.

5. What countries did you visit?

Just Hong Kong.

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?

Love. I think it's time.

7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

October 31, 2012. The day I met My Beloved again. November 01, the day after, comes a pretty close second.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Going crazy viral!

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not being good enough to take the pain away and a horrible mishandling of situations that led to me losing two friends I wish I were still good friends with now.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nothing major, to my recollection, although this heel spur I had has been nagging me for almost a year already.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

A PS Vita and a 32-inch TV for my Makati place? Also, a 1-TB hard drive I gave as a present.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My Beloved, because she reached out to me after years. Agnes, because she put up with me despite my worst times this year. Kim Chua, because she was very supportive as a friend.

13. Whose behavior appalled you and made you depressed?

The one who took a shot at me while I was down, the one who reminds me of someone that I know, and the one who I looked up to but refused to let me rectify our issues. Also, the asshole who hurt My Beloved.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Gadgets and food, by far.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Seeing My Beloved again. Unfortunately, the feeling wasn't mutual as she likes me more over the phone. LOL.

16. What song will always remind you of 2012?

"Gangnam Style" - PSY, "I Won't Give Up" - Jason Mraz, "Call Me Maybe" - Carly Rae Jepsen, "Somebody That I Used To Know" - Gotye, and "Endlessly" - The Cab

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? – happier
ii. thinner or fatter? – thinner
iii. richer or poorer? – neither

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Paid shows! (Still!) Also, improv jams, socializing, and finding ways to make My Beloved happy.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Pointless dating! (Still!)

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

It was pretty quiet.

21. Did you fall in love in 2012?

Except for one possible exception, not with anyone I didn't already love before. I sure fell in like quite a lot.

22. How many one-night stands?

Straight-edge, remember?

23. What was your favorite TV program?

WWE Raw and Smackdown, Nikita, and Big Bang Theory, even if I don't really watch TV.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I don't think I hate anyone at this point, so much as I feel regrets over them for various reasons.

25. What was the best book you read?

Wow. I don't think I actually really read a complete book this year. That's terrible.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Gotye, PSY, and yes, Carly Rae Jepsen.

27. What did you want and not get?

One more chance. (Still!)

28. Favorite film of this year?

Avengers, maybe? I honestly am pretty ambivalent about the movies this year, although I liked Rock Of Ages a lot, if I remember it correctly...

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 29 on a weekend, so I managed to keep it mostly quiet.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

One more chance. But hey, maybe 2013?

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?

Not cutting it with My Beloved.

32. What kept you sane?

Cracked.com and My Beloved.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Jinri Park, still? LOL.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?

The RH Bill, especially when it finally got signed.

35. Who did you miss?

My Beloved (Still!), and the friends I lost for various reasons.

36. Who was the best new person you met?

I might have to say Erika, my officemate, since she was a movie buddy for a while, and she's arguably the only new person I met whom I still get along with up to now. Otherwise, it would've been W, really.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.

Good things come to those who wait.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

I'm not perfect, but I swear I'm perfect for you.

Project 52 (52/52): On The Year That Was (And Why I Hope For The Best In 2013)

.:Project 52 (52/52): On The Year That Was (And Why I Hope For The Best In 2013):.
So there I was, celebrating New Year's in Hong Kong last week, and I quickly realized that I was gonna miss out on writing this post to cap off my 2012. That's fine, really. I don't mind.

I. Am. Racoon. Man!

It was great, being in Hong Kong. Managed to really think about a whole slew of different things, and I must say that Ocean Park was still better than Disneyland, in my book. This is despite the fact that I completely missed out on riding the Abyss, but whatever. I'm just glad I managed to get in some time with the Hair Raiser, and I now know why they used to have Disneyland cast members screening souvenir photos on Space/Splash Mountain for flashers.

I'd do a day-by-day account, but I must admit that my time in Hong Kong wasn't terribly exciting. Some Toys R Us here, some Disney there, some Ocean Park on the last day, and even an adventure in Shakey's Hong Kong, which wa nothing t all like Shakey's in Manila. The pizzas were both pricier, and ultimately, despite the presence of portobello mushrooms, inferior to our local fare. Morton's was awesome, and I even tried to search for Peking duck along Peking Road to no avail. Overall, mundane stuff, and most of my highlights involved figuring out various ways to get in touch with My Beloved throughout my stay. We even did the New Year's countdown together!

If anything, my Christmas party with the RH Bill Advocates the night before I left for Hong Kong was probably more eventful, since I won the "manliest RH advocate" contest that night, which Beloved was very quick to dismiss as not authoritative whatsoever.

Blasphemy! How can I be anything but manly?!?

It was great finally meeting the likes of @mrsunlawyer nd @tetalimcangco, but of course, m achie ill probably remember best the riot we had as @supsup010 ade it a highlight that the anti-RH person on Twitter called me a "baklang virgin na abortionista," an assertion which seemed a bit ludicrous because a gay virgin would probably be the last person to want or need an abortion.

I wish I had more pictures of that event, but unfortunately, I have to make do with what I have for now.

It's been a great year, really. Better than the last, in my opinion, from January all the way to December. If I could try to recall the highlights I had each month, it would go...

January: he CJ Corona trial, which I had very strong opinions on. I was mostly focused on work, as I had a very important quarter in Nuffnang that could make or break my career there.

February: went on a Binondo food tour with a couple of friends, and spent some time making new friends in CamSur, where I tried my hand at wakeboarding. This was also the month that Maan, a friend of mine from my Campus 99.5 days, tragically passed away. As usual, my February 14 sucked. This might have been when I started doing that Street Fighter thing during Fridays.

March: falling out with several people, including someone whom I didn't expect would figure in my life again sometime the same year, only to leave it abruptly all over again. It was also at this point that I started waxing poetic about Neko-Chan. I had high hopes then, I guess. I got to see Battalia Royale and the Hunger Games this month, so it was pretty fun in the entertainment department.

April: officially left Nuffnang, ending three years with the company with my head held up high, knowing I had wider horizons awaiting me. The whole Alakim episode kinda soured me on being a magician/mentalist for a while, so I really let my performances as one fade to the background as I did standup more for the Cartel and Mike Unson.

May: I found myself joining ID8, where I felt I thrived and still do, although there's still so much room to make even more of an impact. It was a good time for me, career-wise, although I did miss Nuffnang a bit, especially... well, I'll shut up now. And, oh, I spoke for iBlog on Comedy Blogging, marking one of my best talks ever. And yeah, did something stupid that was (but should not have been) work-related. That gaffe still haunts me to this day.

June: Cleo left 99.5 RT, and the beginning of the end was in sight for the station. I was doing a lot of stuff for work, which led me to meet Jinri Park, admittedly, one of the few celebrity crushes I have. I hosted ToyCon, so yes, that gave me an infamous opportunity to get a line in on one of my closest cosplayer friends, Telly. And yes, I went viral this month.

This never gets old.

July: Went viral again, thanks to #fap2012 and the KFC Cheese Top Burger, although the latter gained steam since June. Lulz were had. I really got into SPIT at this point, especially after their international festival. Working in Makati made it easy for me to attend shows in Quantum with regularity, so I even ended up being a rookie performer one time for them, and the improv bug officially bit me. Also, Dolphy passed away. Which sucked, totally. Also, moved to Makati during weekdays. Or was it June? I forget. Probably June, though.

August: Tito Sotto and plagiarism over the RH Bill, OPM is dead. We were rife with very amazing discussions all around, and I was getting very testy on social media. I think this was the first time I noticed how very selective I now am with blogging, which kinda explains the paltry 123 posts I had in 2012 as opposed to previous years, but the countless Tweets I made in exchange. That Anna Banana thing struck a chord with me, really. And I think this was when Gangnam Style started to gain steam everywhere. 8List was born, at least via Facebook page, so the craziness ensued.

September: Had a horrible falling out with another friend, and this is made worse how much she reminds me of someone else. Butch Maniego passed away. A cosplay trademark thing. I got "married" via booth to Telly. LOL. I assembled a TV stand! Wow! More importantly, I resolved to at least try and make my birthday this year better, and I did that by attempting to patch up rifts I've had. One particular rift was fixed, and it turned out for the better as we started communicating again, at least at the time. I thought we were making headway, and at least, the friendship seemed great, because I saw a certain level of maturity that I never encountered this often before.

The real highlight of September, though, was when in the middle of hosting BOA, suddenly, My Beloved got in touch with me. I was shocked and it really caught me off-guard. Two and a half years since my world was shattered, it turns out it's her turn to feel that way, and through it all, I realized that my feelings for her barely changed, except in terms of intensity. I was still crazy about her. I still am, and I still hope we could work through all the obstacles facing us. And yes, this meant I started hitting the gym, too.

October: I celebrated my tenth year as a blogger! It was pretty fun, although the celebration was kinda marred because of the end of the Disenchanted Kingdom. It was pretty sad when that happened, but at least, I managed to have a breakout article on the Cybercrime Law, which eventually got hit with a TRO by the Supreme Court. Unfortunately for me, the friendship I mended a month before blew up in my face all over again, and all I know is I wish we could have sit down and talked about it before anything rash had to happen. It was such a waste, because I honestly believe we had something good going for us. To be honest, I'm still miserable about it. I wish we could patch things up someday, but even our common friends don't think it's a good idea.

Also, this was when I first met My Beloved in years.

November: #AMALAYER happened, and I was so busy this month. I spent probably 40% of my time on work, 40% on My Beloved, and 20% on everything else. That was pretty much how my life has been since November, and let me tell you that for the most part, I have no complaints about that. November 1, something happened I didn't expect to ever happen. Something, obviously powerful and moving to me. LOL. Logan jumped aboard to WAVE 891 where I quickly followed him as a regular guest.

December: Hong Kong, Christmas parties, everything was a blur in December. All I know is that from November onwards, since My Beloved was in town, all I could think of was her. It's a bit crazy how short my account is when it comes to November and December, but all I can say is that I've been happy to have her back in my life, and the details are sparse because they're replete with hours upon hours of conversations and insights with her. When you connect with a person on that level, it kind of feels strange to share all of that with everyone else, as they'd probably be lost.

And that's 2012 to me in a nutshell. Pretty crazy, huh? Ultimately, here's hoping 2013 is even better, and may love finally find me once again.

My fervent hope.

Project 52 (51/52): On This Year's Blogging Output (And Why I'm Not Content About My Content)

.:Project 52 (51/52): On This Year's Blogging Output (And Why I'm Not Content About My Content):.

When I started writing this post, I thought it was my last post for this year's Project 52, and then I slowly realized that I may have missed my count by one.

And I did.

Sure, my count was off during 2010's Project 365, but hey, with 365 posts to handle, that was perfectly excusable. This year, I was blogging just a tad over once a week, but I still found myself mindless and careless enough to label week 42 as week 43. This is why my count was off by one for the rest of that time.

That being said, I'm really not too pleased about my blogging this year, because I know that while the quality of my writing has held steady or possibly improved, the amount of writing I do is a crying shame. Sure, I try my best to make sure I have a decent post once a week, but beyond that, I didn't really have much to offer. And I can't say it's because of my emotional state, seeing as whether I'm happy or depressed, the frequency of my updates didn't really make much of a difference.

I guess it helps that my writing is everywhere else on the internet, from the POC to the Freethinkers to the 8List and a bunch of other unattributed stuff. Still, I do feel like I've been neglecting my blog lately, and on my tenth year of doing it, no less. No, don't worry. I don't think this will be a moment for me to call quits on blogging altogether, seeing as I don't wanna hurt all four of my loyal readers.

But still, I guess this year, with all the things I've gone through, I've gone to do a lot of thinking. It just sucks that very little of that ended up on the blog. Whether it be my thoughts on things and people I've encountered, or it be about the RH Bill, or comedy, or even my still non-existent lovelife, I've given snippets of my thoughts on them here and there, but I haven't really tried to commit myself to anything altogether. I haven't really just gone out there and really written in a way that made me feel I've exhausted all my sentiments on the matter at that point.

It always feels I have so much more to say.

Then again, that may not necessarily be a bad thing now, is it? For all I know, I could simply be looking at it from the wrong perspective: that having so much more to say means I'm not being as diligent with my blogging. Maybe I'm becoming a bit more selective in writing, rather than lazy. If the reason for the lower frequency is that and not laziness, maybe what I need to do is to refine the selection process itself. Not every thought that crosses my mind needs to be committed to the interwebs, after all, especially not thoughts that could be very fleeting and just brought about by the spur of the moment, only to be quickly regretted afterwards.

This has been a good year, and I don't even know if I can make the proper traditional year-end things I always have done before. This is weird, when you consider how viral a lot of the things I've done has gotten, from the BaYo thing to the Cybercrime Law article. I never wrote mainly for the money, so this blog not being one designed for profit isn't the reason, either. If it were, then I should be writing on a weekly basis for the POC, at least. But I'm not.

I guess there's just so much I want to say, but also so much I feel is best left unsaid. When I'm too hurt, when I'm too happy, when I'm too anything but contemplative, I feel very suspicious of the words coming out of my keyboard, and I cut myself off at that point.

Nowadays, I also hate writing nothing but a wall of text without a picture somewhere in the mix to at least catch people's eyes as I write.

Have I caught them yet?

So I guess we'll see where we go from here. I'm just really at a point where I have no idea why I'm meandering like this, but I can't say I'm so unhappy, really. It's been a good year, I'm grateful, and I'm still alive.
