Sometimes he rants, sometimes he smiles. Sometimes he jokes, sometimes he sighs. Sometimes he's happy, sometimes he's sad. Sometimes he's good, sometimes he's bad. Sometimes he's there, sometimes he's gone. Sometimes he stalls, sometimes he's done. But whatever Marcelle says, whatever he'd do, you can be sure, it's true! It's true!

Whoops! My Show's Tomorrow... Heh...
I didn't realize that my Halloween show for Trinoma was actually tomorrow, not on Friday. This gives me a lot of breathing room, though, and I can't complain about that.
Anyways, wish me luck. This seems like a really nice home stretch for yours truly as I find myself potentially loaded up with tons of shows for the holidays. That's a problem I'd like to have, truth be told...

The Shoot Was Splendid...
Yo, Christa! happy birthday! 20's a good age to be...
.:The Shoot...:.
Thanks to my brother, Francis, Jay Mata and I, of course with our special guest, Ms. Giselle Sanchez, had an amazing photo shoot tonight at DPI in Astoria. Needless to say, we had a fun time, and Ms. Giselle was nothing but gracious to have taken the time out from her busy schedule to be there for us for this photo shoot. Wait 'til you see the pictures. They're a riot!
Laughs And Gasps!
.:November 22: Laughs And Gasps, Wikipilipinas Headquarters Rooftop, 7PM!:.
This is it. The night we've been building up to, it's Laughs And Gasps: an amazing night featuring the magic and mentalism of Kel and Jay, and the music and comedic wit of our very special guest, Ms. Giselle Sanchez!
We are hoping to catch you there this November 22, at the Wikipilipinas Headquarters Rooftop, for a night of magic, mentalism, music, and comedy. This is Laughs And Gasps: a special night for the benefit of the Giselle Sanchez foundation, a charitable institution established to give educational aid to brilliant but underprivileged girls, because everyone deserves a chance at quality education. For a mere 250 pesos, you are treated to an amazing show, and you even help out the foundation in this noble endeavor.
Having said that, you could help us even further, if you could help us defray our costs of production. All performers have waived their talent fees for this benefit show, but we've found ourselves shelling out for a lot of other costs that go hand in hand with producing an event of this magnitude.
We are expecting participants coming mostly from the Blogging Community, the Cosplay Community, the Magic Community, the Media Industry, and of course, friends of Ms. Giselle Sanchez from the Entertainment Industry. With a wide range of guests and a mostly-radio based media promotion with our media partners, such as JAM 88.3 and WAVE 89.1, your company will certainly stand to benefit much from being a part of this event. The fact that Ms. Sanchez has personally taken to promoting the event on her TV guestings can't hurt, either.
As such, we are opening our doors to people who want to help make this event a success by sponsoring the event. We offer three different packages for this:
1. Major Sponsorship: 100,000
- Lockout option for other potential sponsors. There will only be one (1) major sponsor.
- Option to set up a booth during the event, and up to four (4) standees for signage.
- Option for a raffle or giveaway of your products as additional promotion.
- Corporate logos will be present in all tickets, posters, and other promotional materials for the event (Including online promotions.).
- Company will be mentioned at least ten (10) times over the course of the event.
- Company will be mentioned during promotional efforts such as radio or TV guestings.
- Company will be given ten (10) complimentary tickets for the event.
- You may avail of Kel and Jay's services as a magican/mentalism tandem for one (1) event for your company. Kel and Jay will waive their talent fee for this event.
2. Minor Sponsorship: 30,000
- Only three (3) minor sponsorships will be accepted.
- Option to set up to two (2) standees for signage during the event.

Help us make this happen. Help laughs and gasps be a huge success! If you have any questions, feel free to reach me via email, mistervader@gmail.com, especially if you wanna know how to help us. See you there!
Sometimes, People Ask Me...
There are a million and one different hobbies one can choose, but why magic? Well, for the first time ever, I will tell you the secret why I decided to become a magician/mentalist, and of course, one-half of Kel and Jay.
You see, when I was a kid, I really liked to sing and dance. My parents would always ask me to perform for their friends when they drop in to visit, and at six years old, you thought you were the best singer on Earth. Ever. You get the adulation of your parents' friends, your mom and dad make you feel like you have a future career in singing and dancing, and nobody, and I mean nobody would dare tell you that you have no business singing and dancing. That's just being cruel to a six-year old, after all.
So I kept going in this little world of mine, mangling songs like "Somewhere Out There" and "If We Hold On Together" with no regard for other people's eardrums, even going so far as volunteering to "sing" in school. Yeah, I thought *that* highly of my singing prowess that I wanted to subject my schoolmates to the misery of my singing, and you know what? The school didn't have the heart to tell me I was wrong.
But my classmates? Boy, they were ruthless! They made it a point to tell me how bad my voice sounds, that they'd rather drink Ajax dishwashing mixed with tap water than to have to hear me "sing", much less "rap", since I believe Andrew E was all the rage when I was in early grade school.
My classmates were mean. And they made me cry. Let's not even get into what they had to say about my dancing. That's not fit for public consumption here.
So I took it all in stride, broadened my horizons, opened up my mind, tried new things...
... and that's how I became one half of Kel and Jay! =P
A Two-Fer
Did pretty well in my latest sanctioned tournament, but unfortunately, I had to contend with the fact that I simply died to tiebreaks.
Doomsday is back, indeed.
.:Impromptu Hosting:.
I was genuinely surprised to find out that I was going to host for the Sony Vaio Fashion Show in SMX Convention Center last Saturday, but it was certainly a welcome development. I not only had a lot of fun being there for the event and cracking jokes over the super original games we had ("Bring Me" FTW!), I even managed to freak out my client when I demonstrated my mentalism to them. Needless to say, Liquid Metal was the highlight of the day, yet again.
.:Casino Filipino Earlybird:.
Immediately after my hosting, I took a cab to get to Casino Filipino, only to find out I was a full two hours ahead of everybody else. So I just sat myself down there and waited for people to show up, and I realized that I really don't like gambling at all. I had a couple of coupons here and there that could've helped me on the gambling tables, but I'm simply not a gambling man.
Of course, the fact that they let a magician into a casino didn't go unnoticed to the bloggers, as well. This was a great event brought to us by PAGCOR, and much love to Ms. Janette Toral for inviting us over to be a part of this really great event. We had some controversial people show up for the most part, but all in all, I was happy hanging out with the usual suspects, such as AJ and Juned, for what turned out to be a pretty great night overall.
I also made a few new acquaintances as well, such as Errol and Erik, who were really cool guys. They forced a quick ending to my night of Poker when everyone was suddenly going all-in so soon at the table, essentially forcing a quick elimination of half the participants in one quick go. It was simply not my night for cards. Heh.
It was a great event, and even if I decided against trying my luck at gambling, I must say I was happy nonetheless that Saturday night was really an awesome time for everyone involved, and I managed to wow some people by performing for them that night, all the same.
If you missed this event, you just have to take comfort in the fact that there are tons of people who have no qualms telling you that you missed a helluva lot... :P

The Diablo Disease...
So after a whole-day Diablo II run with Mario, Nathan, and Joey, I ended up getting really sick.
It was weird, really. The Diablo II run was capped off by one of the enemies I killed dropping a Unique Unidentified Shield which turned out to be an Exile runeword. I don't even know how that's possible.
I went back home with a burning fever, and I couldn't even sleep because I was in so much pain.
And yet I couldn't leave behind my Plurk, and I was PhPlurking my way while I was getting delirious with fever.
Thank God for My Beloved, as she actually kept me company and kept me from going nuts while I was dealing with the pain. She talked to me over the phone and soothed my frayed nerves.
Well, I'm feeling much better now, so thank God for that, I guess.

Today's LSS...
Didn't do too well this time out for my tournament. Oh, well. Them's the breaks.
.:Today's LSS...:.
No explanations necessary.
One Step At A Time
by Jordin Sparks
Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch
CHORUS
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face and the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
We live and we learn to take
REFRAIN
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen when it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
(CHORUS, then REFRAIN)
When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
When you need to find the strength
It's the faith that makes you stronger
The only way we get there
Is one step at a time
(REFRAIN 2x)

Belated...
.:Blessed Are The Poor: We, Who Have Nothing:.
Despite the fact that our current administration wants to insist that the Philippines is, until fairly recently, experiencing an economic boom, not too many people can genuinely say that they are feeling the improvement. Truth be told, the fact that there is technically more money to go around for the entire country does not automatically indicate that it goes around for a lot of people. We've heard the expression “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”, and it couldn't be truer than our present situation.
There's nothing simple about the poverty situation in the Philippines. We could all try to declare the Reproductive Health Bill as the cure to our woes, but it's only one part of a big puzzle. We could try giving alms on a daily basis to all the mendicants we cross paths with, and it still wouldn't help. The fact of the matter is, the very mindset by which we view poverty affects how we continue to deal with the situation, and this is the main issue I intend to contend with.
I am, by no means, an economist. I can't tell you how to run your finances, and if you took my advice, you'd probably sincerely regret it in short order. I will be honest here and say that nothing I am saying right now could guarantee a solution to our poverty issue, but perhaps providing a different point of view in contrast to how we as a country have come to understand this predicament might give us food for thought.
A majority of this country is composed of Catholics. Despite the Beatitudes' admonition that “Blessed Are The Poor”, we have a natural tendency to look down on poor people, and for some reason, Catholics are strongly repelled by poor people, regardless of the church's teachings. Admittedly, this isn't an exclusive feature to Catholics, but it's worth noting.
Admittedly, even I find it annoying when approached by mendicants, or those kids who get you cabs along Katipunan. Their sense of entitlement to alms, and their tendency to insult you when you don't give them anything or worse, give them something they don't think is enough, can certainly grate on even more generous people. If charitable organizations are any indication, people have an easier time doing charity when there's no opportunity for the direct beneficiaries to somehow ingratiate themselves to the benefactors.
The funny thing is, this mindset, this gap between the rich and poor, is cemented by pretty much every single telenovela that comes our way. Let's face it: the poor are kind and good, the rich are painted as evil, and any rich person who is actually kind-hearted is more the exception, rather than the rule. Soap operas imply a certain disdain for rich people, making it come off as though it's someone's fault if they were rich.
Do we now blame television for people who stay poor? Of course not. It's never that simple. But I'll be damned if it doesn't add up to something. The sense of entitlement crosses poverty lines, but is more glaring the less things a person is actually entitled to. We are a product of our times, and unfortunately, the gap is wider than ever because the rich distrust the poor (At times with good reason.), and the poor resent the rich (At times, also with good reason.) thanks to the dynamics they find themselves in: the greedy corporate entity that displaces farmers from their ancestral lands, the syndicate in charge of kids who beg on the streets, the massive layoff of rank and file employees during a recession, and the cabs who prey on their passengers by holding them up.
Having said all that, if there's one thing I discovered from my mom, who went on vacation here from her new life in Thailand, it's that the biggest difference between the average Thai and the average Filipino is the sense of entitlement. As a mainly Buddhist country, charity and poverty are heavily part of their religion, and having never been colonized, the Westernization of Thai values is far behind the Westernization of Filipino values.
There are poor people in Thai. Heck, Thailand is arguably has an even more corrupt government than the Philippines, yet at the end of the day, it's the sense of entitlement that accounts for quite a bit of the difference. Sidharta Gautama was a prince who gave everything up to achieve enlightenment, and thus the poor find much in common with Buddha. The poor are definitely poor in Thailand, but they are looked upon with equal parts respect and commiseration. It's not too difficult for a mendicant to find someone on every corner willing to give them food or even money when they look to be in need, without even asking.
It boggles the mind, truth be told. The Catholic faith is supposed to be a pro-poor religion, yet why does this not show? Is it because compared to Buddhist ascetes, Churches manifest a kind of opulence that runs contrary to their declaration of solidarity with the poor? Is the culture inspired by television to blame for our sense of entitlement? Really, who is to blame?
This is a post made a day after Blog Action Day. Despite that, I think we know the answer is that knowing who to blame at this point is irrelevant: we can only do what we can to alleviate the situation.
It starts with the simplest of gestures. Maybe you can't spare someone a few bucks for alms, but if you could just look at a mendicant with less disdain than you normally do, then it's a start. Or maybe you can be a bit nicer to your maids, and cut them some slack when they don't do something too smart. There're a million little things you can do to help in the war against poverty, and little though they all might be, if you end up doing them all, you would have ended up doing a million things for your part.
My journey of a thousand miles begins today. I hope I am not alone in this trek.

Blog Inaction Day...
I was supposed to write today, but I couldn't. Not because I was lazy, mind you, but I'm weathering an emotional storm right now, and it really is affecting my ability to write.
It's bad enough I lost one of my best friends this week, now it looks like a certain someone is out of my life for good as well...
Whoo-de-doo. Blog inaction day, it is.

Red Box Wii Night!
Since this post is about Red Box, all the pictures will involve boxes, one way or another...
Last 06 October, Geiser Maclang invited bloggers to a special Wii Night at Red Box Karaoke in Greenbelt, where we were greeted by the head honchos of the branch, and they told us that aside from the wonderful videoke we've come to know and love, they now have selected rooms that you can play Nintendo Wii in. It was definitely amazing, to say the least, as you can see Markku and Fritz slugging it out on Wii Boxing...
Boxing! (Photo ganked from Jehzlau.)
That night, we even had a come as a Wii character contest, and while some people came and wore shirts with video game characters on them, I figured that since I am a cosplaying god, I will wow them with one of my most elaborate costumes ever... I came as Solid Snake, who is a secret character in the game Super Smash Bros. Melee...
No, I'm not in costume yet! (Photo ganked from Karla.)
Wait, lemme put on my costume...
Solid Snake, hiding in a box! With Hannah! (Photo ganked from Jehzlau.)
I was genuinely grateful that I ended up winning the prize for best costume. All my hard work and preparation paid off, and they finally discovered just how amazing a cosplayer I really am... lol. Not bad for a debut effort, neh?
Afterwards, we asked to have the Nunchuk's traded in for microphones, and lo and behold...
Boxed Out! (Photo ganked from Jehzlau.)
Yes, Fritz, myself, Byahilo, Blogie, and a few others went and hit the videoke. I mean, what's a Red Box night without Videoke, neh? From Rick Astley to Queen to Incubus to Sam Milby to Salbakuta to Madonna to High School Musical to Lisa Loeb, we really had a load of fun.
In fact, based on the picture up there, Byahilo was soooo impressed by Fritz, that...
Surprise! Boxsecks!!! (Photo ganked from Jehzlau.)
'Twas a wonderful night, and you know I'll be back in Red Box sooner than you think. I'm a big videoke and Wii fan, so you can count on it... heh.
Red Box Karaoke has branches in Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma. Don't miss out on some wonderful music or even video game fun with your friends and family! Drop by Red Box tonight!

Today's LSS...
What can I say? I love this song! It's so catchy...
7 Things
by Miley Cyrus
I probably shouldn't say this
But at times I get so scared
When I think about the previous
Relationship we've shared
It was awesome but we lost it
It's not possible for me not to care
Now we're standing in the rain
But nothin's ever gonna change until you hear, my dear
CHORUS:
The 7 things I hate about you
The 7 things I hate about you
You're vain, your games, you're insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don't know which side to buy
Your friends they're jerks
And when you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you
It's awkward and it's silent
As I wait for you to say
What I need to hear now
Your sincere apology
And when you mean it, I'll believe it
If you text it, I'll delete it
Let's be clear
I'm not coming back You're taking 7 steps here
(CHORUS)
Compared to all the great things
That would take too long to write
I probably should mention
The 7 that I like
The 7 things I like about you
You hair, your eyes, your old Levi's
And when we kiss, I'm hypnotized
You make me laugh, you make me cry
But I guess that's both I'll have to buy
Your hand in mine
When we're intertwined everything's alright
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I like the most that you do
You make me love you
Posting Tomorrow...
Ah, well.

Samsung Fun Club Night: 10 October, 2008!
Eastwood City Central Plaza was the venue for the amazing Samsung Fun Club night, that saw Eastwood go gaga over the latest and greatest in Samsung Phone Technology, not to mention amazing giveaways, prizes, activities, and a free concert courtesy of Parokya Ni Edgar.
For me, not only was it an excellent opportunity to join the Fun Club myself, but it was also a chance to reconnect with a few people whom I didn't expect to see there at all: former Aircheck Batchmates Cat and Piper were there, and so was John Hendrix and even the Triggerman.
The event was hosted by Sam YG, Tony Tony, Slick Rick, and Andi-9 from Magic 89.9. It was real fun seeing and hobnobbing with people from radio, as well as running into a few fellow bloggers, including Juned and Azrael. Admittedly, I don't have any picture to spare, but it was a great night, and you should've been there. Furthermore, the lovely Hazel from Samsung was glad to accommodate us and the other bloggers who went to the event. We even got to have a hands-on feel for their latest phones, and I must say, it was an enjoyable experience!
I actually won a prize, when Andi turned to me during their Q and A segment and nobody else was ready to answer the question. Since I knew what the answer was, it was all academic from there, and I ended up taking something home from Samsung yet again, since they also gave away free t-shirts just for visiting the six booths in the Central Plaza.
As usual, I ran into the bouncers I met from Redux and Mangaholix, and even had a short bit where I ended up doing magic for a few of Cat's friends. Shortly afterwards, the stage was set for Parokya Ni Edgar's performance, and they really just had the crowd eating in the palm of their hand. Needless to say, Parokya brought the house down, and they were their usual funny selves.
I can't help but really enjoy PnE's music. I've always been a big fan, and it was really excellent to hear their song that's currently my absolute favorite, "Akala".
Much thanks and love to Samsung for organizing this event! Thanks for having us over, and to everyone who wants a chance to be in on the latest from Samsung, join The Samsung Fun Club today! You won't regret it.

Remind Me Not To Reach Out To You Next Time...
Don't even think you can get away with snapping at me when it was I who reached out to you, despite the fact that it was you who decided to be an @$$ to me.
And don't think I'd let this slide without an apology. I'm done being the one to take the bullet. I really am.

Name That Tune Meme, Redux!
There were some songs that nobody got in my previous meme, so I'll repost them and add a bunch of new songs. Let's hope this time, you guys get all 30!
Pick out your 30 heartbreak songs.
Pick out a line from each (try not to use the chorus or title of the song). List them and see if people on your friends list can guess them. Once one is guessed correctly, strike it out.
To the people answering: NO GOOGLING FOR THE LYRICS!
1. "But then you went and changed the words, and now my heart is empty..."
2. "It's been the longest winter without you, I didn't know where to turn to..."
3. "I have to say, though alone in this crazy sea of faces, it’s still your face I wanna know..."
4. "It's been two years since she passed on, but somehow the pain still lingers on,
and no other day can magnify it like this day..."
5. "Loved me fearless when you needed to. You would not rest till you came through. So god bless and thank you..."
6. "How could you make then break my heart? If I can’t say, “I miss you”, let me say one last thing..."

12.
13. "Well, I don't wanna waste my time on you anymore... I don't even think you know what you're looking for..."
14. "I cannot wake up in the morning without you on my mind. So you're gone and I'm haunted and I bet you are just fine..."
15. "Or would it be a waste? Even If i knew my place should i leave it there?"

25.
26. "Giliw, wag mo sanang limutin ang mga araw na hindi sana naglaho..."
27. "Catch myself from despair, I could drown if I stay here..."

Friday In Brief...
A mini-Plurkfiesta last Friday with Marck, Doc Tess, and Pierre at CPK turned out to be quite an amazing experience. We had mushroom overload thanks to Wild Mushroom Pizza and Portobello Ravioli.
We were oohing and ahhing in sheer bliss. It was an explosion of sensations as we mind-numbingly stumbled across the tables for a piece, and, and... oh, right. Let's talk about the food na lang. ;)
We had one other pizza just for variety, but any pizza that reminds you of Mike Abundo if he were from Jamaica should really be avoided at all costs, I guess. :P
Afterwards, we had a nightcap at Gloria Jean's (sorta), where they had a bunch of beers. Yes, GJ's was outdoors. I just spent time talking to them, since I don't really drink, and we were planning to make our debuts as video bloggers in the worst way possible...
There were serious conversations to be had, but for the most part, I took it all in stride. I tried convincing them about a certain viewpoint I had, and to some extent, I did that right, but the sad thing is, they just might be right on this count... ::grumble::
.:Heaven Denied...:.
I'm not hosting the fair. Oh, well... Haha.
.:Today's LSS...:.
No explanation necessary...
Smile
by Tamia
Sometimes i sit at home and wonder how it would be
If she had loved me, truly loved me,yes
I learned a while ago that kind of thing it never happens for me
And so i go around and just pretend love is not for me
I play the circus clown around my friends
Make them laugh and they wont see that
You never let them see you sweat don't want them to think
The pain runs deep, Lord knows it's killing me...
CHORUS:
So I fix up my hair and put a smile on my face
And if anyone asks me everything is okay
I'm laughing 'cause no one knows the joke is on me
'Cause I'm dyin' inside with my pride
And a smile on my face, on my face
Singing, la la la, la la, lalala, la la, la la,
la la, la la, la la, la la la laaaa...
Sometimes I sit at home by the phone hopin' she might call me
But she don't call me but then I realize dreams come true
Aren't for guys like me not like me
And so I go around with my head up like it ain't no thing
And when the girls around with all my friends I'm into other things
'Cause you never let them see you sweat don't want them to think
The pain runs deep, Lord knows it's killing me...
(CHORUS except last two lines)
It's not easy (thing to do)
Sometimes it's hard to (face the truth)
It's not the life that I would choose
But what else can I do if she don't love me
No if she don't want me
Even though I just wanna sit around let myself go (gooooo)
(CHORUS)

Friday, October 03, 2008
I'll Post Later Or Some Other Time...
Playing secretary and trying to assemble the big show...
Helping a friend or two study for their final exams...
Participating in mega-Plurk threads where people are talking about a friend of mine whom I'm genuinely worried about...
Thinking about my thesis and my Psych paper...
Finished a drop-in on some radio stations just the other day...
Is there any wonder why I'm so occupied and I can hardly blog today? Nyerk...
Meantime, here's a meme I got from Kitkat:
Leave a comment and I'll:
a) Tell you why I friended you.
b) Associate you with something -- a fandom, song, color, photo, etc.
c) Tell you something I like about you.
d) Tell you a memory I have of you.
e) Ask you something I've wanted to know about you.
f) Tell you my favourite userpic from your list.
g) In return, you need to post this on your own.
Yeba!

For Shame, For Shame!
Kel and Jay had another show last Tuesday for Tado, after performing last Saturday (More on this some other time.), so I really didn't make it to the Bonfire. I ran into Abby and Bobby and even Adi Co, but outside of that, meh.
I'm glad I didn't really see the bonfire, though... turns out that some overzealous alumni decided to burn some green shirts, and even put DLSU players' names on a wooden plank and toss it into the fire as well. There was word that other UAAP members had their school names on respective planks chucked into the fire all the same.
There have been some students from DLSU who were understandably annoyed by it, and while I'm obviously an Atenean, count me among the people who didn't like this stunt one bit.
We won. In my opinion, we earned the win. We don't have to act like ungracious dolts and take it as an opportunity to "torch" our competition. It taints the victory and makes us seem as if we're sore winners the way some people believe the DLSU team was made up of sore losers.
It's an embarrassment, and I'm sure there are less offensive ways to express our happiness over winning a frigging basketball game. A game!!!
On behalf of the people who don't know any better, I'd like to apologize to anyone offended by this tacky and unnecessary stunt. Not all Ateneans are sore winners. In fact, majority of us didn't find out about this silly display until the very next day.
I called out DLSU's team when they acted like bad sports. I have no qualms calling out the (probably few) people in the ADMU bonfire who acted like petulant kids who don't know when enough's enough.
San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest Blogger's Party: Being Mike Abundo?
Due to the nature of the events that transpired on this day, you have to realize that I will be referencing Mike Abundo in this blog, since it was the day on Plurk when I pretended to be him.
.:San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest For Bloggers!:.

Last September 26, Bloggers were invited to a special treat from San Miguel Beer, to take part in the Oktoberfest celebration for Bloggers in SM Mall Of Asia's unofficial bastion for bloggers, Taste Asia. As usual, Aileen had quite a hand in this, and the event was a smashing success.
To get the whole picture of the amazing night's events, though, you have to understand the whole scheme of things as far as the event goes...
This event was preceded by a very interesting day on Plurk, where practically everyone on my timeline switched identities with each other (LINK HERE). Sine I was one of the late ones to find out about this amazing Plurk Identity Switch, I decided that I'd really get some tongues wagging by changing my username to Mike Abundo. Needless to say, a lot of my friends had to do a double-take because they definitely didn't see that one coming. The whole charade was complete, even with matching avatar (!).
Many threads of discussion turned up and produced rather amusing results because of this, including some other people changing their Plurk names to accompany mine (To hilarious/disturbing results.). Some of my Plurk friends wanted to unfriend me because they really thought Mike Abundo showed up in their timelines. Sorry, Mike, but you polarize people... but you knew that already.
Now, a loooooonnnggg shower after the lulz was had (You have no idea how many people refuse to let me live down this whole thing...), and I made my way to Mall Of Asia for the San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest event, since I was tasked to be a host for the night. I was going to co-host the event with a former NU DJ named Andy, and I was floored to see a huge number of bloggers present in this event, 400 by Aileen's estimate.
It was pretty funny because we decided to continue the whole name-switching business, and I took Poyt's name tag, which led to Andy poking fun at me by referring to her co-host as “Faith”. Compoind this with the fact that most of the bloggers in the general area were still calling me “Mike”, and you can just understand the confusion this all produces for anyone who's not in the loop.
Anyways, so we had a couple of contests, and it was mighty amusing when Poyt, who already switched name tags with Fritz, I believe, won the one-shot beer contest. Since Shari wasn't part of the contest, I guess it's safe to say that there should be a rematch or something so that we could possibly determine who the undisputed drinking queen really is.
In the next contest, Juned won another beer-drinking contest, but this time, it wasn't a bottle they had to down, it was actually an entire pitcher. Although Juned didn't finish the entire pitcher, everyone else conceded he was the winner.
Juned and Arpee tried to set me up for a practice of the infamous moment of zen later that night... allow me to scar your eyes.

A third beer-drinking contest was a pair contest, and the only male-male tandem that participated won.
There were a lot of raffle prizes to be given out, and the people at SMB really pulled out all the stops to give the bloggers one unbelievable party. Even for a straight-edge guy like me, I definitely enjoyed myself in the party, and I commend them for that. There was much comedy gold to be had though when I won a bluetooth headset. It's destiny, I tells ya. Everybody knows who wears a bluetooth headset all the freaking time, after all.

With much protestations that a “volunteer” won the raffle, many more laughs were had as we ended the show, and there I was, just hobnobbing with Jester and Doc Tess. Soon enough, one of the SMB models, Camille, approached Jester and asked him about starting a blog. Soon enough, Doc Tess and I were also trying to help out, and next thing you knew, we have a new blogger in our ranks.
Leave us not forget as well that Moonstar 88 performed for us that night, and it was just awesome to hear them play their hits, especially "Migraine", which is definitely one of my favorite songs!
Afterwards, I was asked by sir Arpet from SM Hypermart to perform magic, and as usual, I did my standard combo of Shackles + Lady And The Rope that night. Let's just say that I had the absolute best reactions for Lady And The Rope from the audience that night. Of course, it sorta helped that my volunteer was unusually cooperative. Must've been the beer, I guess.
Anyways, since this day was all about stealing a guy's identity, let's end it with your moment of Zen...

Just To Let You Guys Know...
Yes, they link to my respective blogs, I know. :P
The Radio Rumor Mill In Focus...
I recently applied in a few radio stations, but I've spoken the most to RT and JAM 88.3. Am I headed back into radio soon? Well, that's the prerogative of the radio stations, so to be honest, I can't say.
This situation bears watching.
.:Campus Radio Part 3?:.
In my Campus 99.5 Megapost, a very recent comment came up, referencing a thread in Pinoy Exchange that mentioned a possible comeback for Campus Radio in 2009.
Naturally, I was skeptical about this, especially when there was mention of a shortlist of jocks who are "a lock" to get into the new Campus Air Force, since it mentioned yours truly, and yet I haven't heard a single peep about this.
Naturally, I decided to turn to the people who would know best about this situation, so I asked John Hendrix about the veracity of this supposed possible return for Campus Radio...
Lo and behold, the rumors aren't a hoax! While details are still understandably not there, the main idea is that the plans definitely are there. I'm hopeful for the Campus Air Force because I love those guys, so it doesn't matter if this is already a third incarnation for the Campus...
Having said that, here's a text message from John Hendrix, and remember, I'm just the messenger here... I try my best not to have enemies in the industry...
"Hahahaha, yes there are plans, Marcelle! :) Campus didn't "die" a natural death, as naysayers and detractors are wont to say. It was assassinated by cowards. :) And we all know who those gutless traitors are, hehe."
And with that, John Hendrix has just pretty much revealed that come 2009, we might be faced with the return of Campus Radio as we know it.
I, for one, am anticipating this with bated breath.
