A Short One...

.:But First Things First:.

With much gratitude to Gyn and Sean, I finally found a place to move in. I'll be staying at a place in Shaw Boulevard for the time being, and it's pretty close Lourdes School, so that should give you an idea about its proximity. It's not the best I could get, but it will more than suffice for me at this point.

I move in around tomorrow, I suppose.

.:Got This From Kathy...:.

LONDON, (AFP) - British tourists have left the residents of one charming Austrian village effing and blinding by constantly stealing the signs for their oddly-named village.

While British visitors are finding it hilarious, the residents of F---ing are failing to see the funny side, The Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported.

Only one kind of crimimal ever stalks the sleepy 32-house village near Salzburg on the German border -- cheeky British tourists armed with a sense of humour and a screwdriver.

But the local authorities are hitting back and with the signs now set in concrete, police chief Kommandant Schmidtberger is on the lookout.

"We will not stand for the F---ing signs being removed," the officer told the broadsheet.

"It may be very amusing for you British, but F---ing is simply F---ing to us. What is this big F---ing joke? It is puerile."

Local guide Andreas Behmueller said it was only the British that had a fixation with F---ing.

"The Germans all want to see the Mozart house in Salzburg," he explained.

"Every American seems to care only about 'The Sound of Music' (the 1965 film shot around Salzburg). The occasional Japanese wants to see Hitler's birthplace in Braunau.

"But for the British, it's all about F---ing."

Guesthouse boss Augustina Lindlbauer described the village's breathtaking lakes, forests and vistas.

"Yet still there is this obsession with F---ing," she said.

"Just this morning I had to tell an English lady who stopped by that there were no F---ing postcards."

.:Considerations:.

Work has been murder, but I doubt I could drop it in favor of a thesis.

That being said, while I would like to finish my M.A., my current course, MA-TPH, is not a thesis course. The catch is that it's also not eligible for a Ph.D., but at the rate I'm going, is that even possible for me? I'm almost living like Batman, with very little sleep available to me...

Agghhh...

.:The Final Word... For Now:.

In your world, you've retconned me to be little more than a depressing afterthought you'd rather not even give a second glance to.

I'm the lowest of the low, and I've done you wrong countless times, and the times I've shown you otherwise all mean nothing to you now.

But in my world, I won't retcon your existence into something meaningless to me. I'll forever treasure it. I'll forever regret not having been a better person for you, but I won't let it ruin what I have now.

In my world, you will always be welcome. I will never turn you away.

I'd be a liar if I said you still don't hold a special place in my heart. I won't press the issue any longer. I know that things have changed, and so for now, let it be enough that you know that my door will be open for you.

All you need do is walk in.

*Gasps*

What? I missed a Suman post. I must apologize, but I suppose you guys understand why.

Was supposed to move to a new place, but the people whom I was supposed to rent it from changed their minds. So now, I'm back to square one.

Had to sleep over at Peppy's the other day. His comment? "This is the first time someone else has seen me in my pyjamas."

I feel so fulfilled knowing I am worthy of such an honor... =P

Seriously, thanks, Peps!

Lookie Here...

.:Today's LSS:.

She's something else. No one else comes close.

No One Else Comes Close
by Joe

When we turn out the lights
The two of us alone together
Something's just not right
But girl you know that I would never ever let another's touch
Come between the two of us
Cause no one else will ever take your place

Chorus:
No one else comes close to you
No one makes me feel the way you do
You're so special girl, to me
And you'll always be, eternally
Everytime I hold you near
You always say the words I love to hear
Girl with just a touch, you can do so much
No one else comes close

And when I wake up to
The touch of your head on my shoulder
You're my dream come true
Oh, girl you know I'll always treasure
Every kiss, every day
I love you girl in every way
And I always will cause in my eyes

Chorus (2x)

No one else comes close
No one else comes close
Damn I love you

.:Movies To Watch:.

Just a plain note of movies I want to catch but missed, in no particular order...

1. Mr. And Mrs. Smith
2. Fantastic Four
3. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
4. The Eye: Infinity
5. Arahan
6. Sin City
7. 8 Mile

.:A-ha:.

April's interview finally got published in Computerworld On Campus, and the funny thing about her article was that she took a screencap of my LJ while it was in locked mode. I'm glad she didn't cap something incendiary in that particular picture, but it was a locked entry, all right. No big deal, really.

My thanks to April for the heads-up. Really nice article.

.:Got My Yearbook:.

Nothing much to say about it, really. I'm just glad it's finally here. Pretty heavy. Five books, all hardbound. Heh.

Abby's write-up is exceedingly amusing. Very short but just captures her so.

.:Another Saturdate:.

Saturdate came along, and so Pomelo and I had the time of our lives. While it's the last time I'd be seeing her before I get evicted from Eastwood.

My mom will have to discuss it with me, whether or not they're going to let me back there. Bottomline is that if I really had my way, I wouldn't even want to, mainly because I can relate to them better when I don't have to live with them. But until I'm stable enough for that, I guess that just can't happen, truth be told.

In any case, let's see what happens after I move out... hopefully, it works out fine.

Well...

.:Lies:.

Taken from Sacha's post:

SpeOps Labs thinks there's not enough IT talent in the Philippines.

I'm no IT talent myself, but I most certainly beg to differ.

For one, I hang around with a group dubbed the "Just Geeks League", and everyone knows I use the word "geek" in an IT sense.

For another, Computer Science is definitely one of the more popular courses in colleges, and say what you want about them, but there are so many IT schools in the Philippines, and you all know what they have to say about giving typewriters to a million monkeys...

Let's face it. If it were a rapper, SpecOps Labs, judging from the way the IT community regards it, is definitely a Macho Man (If you can even call him a rapper...), bereft of street cred. If it were a rocker, SpecOps Labs is definitely an Avril Lavigne (I call her "rocker" with much disdain.), nothing more than a poser. There's one main reason why fakers can get away with what they do, and it's that they look good while they're trying to pull it off. Look no further than Avril Lavigne as a prime example. She ends up getting pretty rabid fans who believe her hype, thanks to that.

But hey, lemme ask the IT community if SpecOps Labs even looks good despite their media blitz. I think the answer won't be favorable.

Maybe it's a case of target audiences, even. Avril's marketed to impressionable kids. On the other hand, SpecOps Labs is marketed to the more... savvy typess of people, and they certainly don't fall for media blitzes that easily.

I'm sorry. I really have little to say about this topic. I just personally find it amusing how untrue what SpecOps Labs had to say actually is...

I can imagine it now... gangsta geeks up in arms, telling SpecOps that they can't "represent" because their "1337 cred" ain't enough.

Or the rocker geeks walking up to SpecOps to tell them that they're a bunch of "sellouts".

But the gangsta geek imagery really gets me. Heh.

Ironic...

.:Today's LSS:.

Just a song I really can relate to right now...

Ironic
by Alanis Morissette

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It’s a black fly in your chardonnay
It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late
Isn’t it ironic... don’t you think?

Chorus:
It’s like rain on your wedding day
It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid
It’s the good advice that you just didn’ta take
Who would’ve thought... it figures

Mr. play it safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
Well isn’t this nice...
And isn’t it ironic... don’t you think?

Repeat chorus

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything’s okay and everything’s going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything’s gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you’re already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It’s meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn’t it ironic... don’t you think?
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...

Repeat chorus

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

.:Playing Cupid- 2 For 2:.

Now, myself and Ranulf have been subtly playing cupid with a certain pair of people recently, and like the last time we did just that, they more or less are together now.

You know the first couple.

But do you know the new couple?

The plot thickens.

.:Life Has A Funny Way...:.

... of helping you out when you think everything's going wrong, and everything blows up in your face.

I guess I owe Peppy one as well for giving me an excellent last resort if I really needed a place to stay. For four thousand a month, I suppose it shouldn't be so bad, really. I'm a daysleeper, so I guess I wouldn't be competing much with living space with the other people I would have to deal with.

I know my blogging is horrible right now. My apologies. I hope that'd improve once I settle down wherever I'll be moving to next.

My gratitude to that one person who has been there for me from the get-go of all this, though. You know who you are, and I love you so much for that...

.:A Small Gathering (For porn.):.

So Sean, Clair, JM, Charo, and myself met up in Coffee Bean last night (For porn.). While I spent some time with Pomelo on that day due to all the stress I had, I felt a bit guilty because I was kind of grumpy towards her(For porn.). Still, I'm very grateful that she's been so understanding of supportive of me lately (For porn.).

While it was just the five of us left, Markpoa then dropped in on us (For porn.). He returned the Bioman DVD's but not the Shaider DVD's, so he'll just call up Peppy one of these days (For porn.). I also appreciated the CD-rom from him for scans of Superman-Batman: Public Enemies, which really would come in handy (For porn.).

Afterwards, the five of us headed off to Glorietta 4 (For porn.). Charo was feeling rather magnanimous, so she treated me to a steak in House Of Minis, which I certainly appreciated (For porn.). There were even some funny conversations about Coco Lee (For porn.). Afterwards, we just went back home, but we certainly had a great time there (For porn.).

You know, this (For porn) business is a bit difficult. Heh. Can't believe my post even made sense so far with it all over the place. Lol. I guess I can stop now.

.:Groggy:.

My mom told me Mike Enriquez liked my application, but I'm still a bit groggy when I went to work despite the news that should've picked me up.

So it came as a total surprise to me when a listener called up to tell me that the music "sucks" just because my songs were keeping her up. I was asked to do her a favor, and play her slow songs like "all the other DJ's do". Is she even listening to other stations? They certainly aren't all trying to put people to sleep.

That, plus hey, you gutless little prissy bastich, maybe you've forgotten my show comes after, oh, "DREAMsounds"? That means I really shouldn't be after putting you to sleep, you know.

'Sides, if you hate the music so much, then stop effing listening, and yet you still do.

Pathetic.

Hmmm...

.:Today's LSS:.

Considering how many songs Limewire provided me with, I don't really have any one particular LSS...

But a lot of songs are playing in my head right now. A whole lot.

.:A Suman Post Of Sorts:.

Ever wondered how cool it would be to wear a necktie that looked like suman? Just a thought, really...

You can now use all sorts of pickup lines just with that idea alone...

Miss, you seem sweet enough to go with me...

Say, is it just me, or is this outfit really tight?

Rice, rice, baby!

Yeah, yeah. What a copout of an idea just to post something about suman today, I know.

.:That's Just Distressing:.

Today's topic for "Your 2 Cents" was particularly distressing and definitely uncalled for. Who wants to talk about abortions at two effing AM? It certainly proved to be a difficult topic to talk about on air because all the listeners who called up for my portion were female, and that certainly became quite a problem for me, to say the least.

That being said, I hope sir Joe wouldn't mind me staying at the station for a couple of days for now... ah, well.

.:I Heard It:.

Steven Seagal can actually sing reggae...

Randomicity

.:Optimism:.

I think I more or less found a place to move into now.

I want to thank Ranulf for having taken me in the past two months. It has been quite a burden on you, I know, and I can’t ask for anything more than the help you’ve already extended to me. May I find the opportunity to repay your kindness someday.

.:I Can’t Find It Anywhere!!!:.

I’d almost kill for an MP3 of “Happy Valentine’s Day” by Trina Belamide. I have been looking all over the internet for a copy of the song, all to no avail. Help!!!

.:Ideas That Are Bound To Suck, Part I:.

Well, I was looking for a copy of the ruddy poster, but the Crow 4 posters available online don’t have that silly blurb with the Evanescence lyrics plastered on a tombstone.

I was never a fan of the Crow series, and even if we’re premiering this movie, I just really refuse to touch it with a ten-foot pole, no matter how good it would actually turn out to be. In any case, you just really have to see the poster for yourself. It’s just that horrible, really. I’ll leave it at that.

Spinning off like this is a bit out of whack, dawg. But seriously, an idea like this sounds so bad, it could be good.

Ah, well.

A Film Review...

.:Today's LSS:.

In keeping with today's film review...

Now You're A Man

Now you're a man

A manny manny man
A man man man

Now you're a man-man

Now you're a man

M-A-N, man

Now you're a man

.:Film Review: Orgazmo:.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about spoilers, considering how old this movie is, but I suppose I have to warn you that it's a comedy film about pr0n, so it's definitely not your average post suitable for all ages... heh.

In any case...

Orgazmo
Now you're a man, a manny manny man...

If there's one thing a lot of people know about me, it's mainly that I'm not a very big fan of the porn film industry. I honestly just don't see the appeal of it. Truth be told, H actually sounds marginally better to me.

Nonetheless, this film, being more of a parody of porn than being a porn film itself, really made me laugh. While I'd have to admit it's not a movie that's fit for any audience to see, it's still a pretty good film, nonetheless. As long as you're ready to see not-so-wholesome content and little respect for religion, then you can sit through this film. Otherwise, you'll simply be offended by it, so I highly suggest you stay away from it if that be the case.

This movie is about Joe Young, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who is on missionary duty in Los Angeles. Finding it very difficult to get converts, he stumbles across a set where Maxx Orbison is shooting a porn film called "Orgazmo". Annoyed at this door-to-door missionary, Maxx sics his guards on him, only to find out how good Joe is at fighting. Seeing the potential, Maxx promises him $20,000 to play "Orgazmo", but since it's a porn film, and his religious beliefs go against it, he is a bit apprehensive. In the end, the money sways him, as well as the guarantee that he'd have a body double whenever he has to actually do some real "action".

The $20,000 would of course come in handy so he could get married, but both being Mormons, Joe decides to lie about his new... profession to his girl. While shooting, Joe gains a new friend, Ben, who plays his sidekick, Choda Boy. Amusingly enough, Ben is a double Ph. D. genius, yet enjoys being a porn star, nonetheless. One of his key inventions is the Orgazmorator, which duplicates the device Orgazmo supposedly uses in the movie, which is a ray gun that makes anyone hit by it get the big O in a flash.

Meanwhile, the success of the movie makes it so wildly popular that Maxx decides to make a sequel, and double Joe's pay for it. At this point, Joe's girlfriend finds out what his new job really is, and their argument leads him to want to quit. Turns out that wasn't such a smart idea, and now, he has to rescue his girlfriend from the scheming and dastardly Maxx Orbison not as Joe Young, but as Orgazmo. Naturally, Ben, blessed with the Hamster Style Kung-Fu, aids him as his sidekick, Choda Boy.

Now, this movie is definitely inane, and the plot is so paper-thin that you'd think it's a genuine script for a porn film. Then again, that's precisely the point. This movie isn't about taking itself seriously. From the opening theme, DVDA's "Now You're A Man", to the villain in the supposed sequel, "Neutered Man" (Since he's neutred, the Orgazmorator doesn't do diddly squat against him.), the film is about cramming in as many porn-related jokes as they can without being overtly graphic about it. Nudity, at least, frontal nudity, is severely kept to a minimum, with only top exposure. Of course, the "toys" employed in the film were strewn about the whole place rather generously, but that's beside the point.

The film pokes a lot of fun at Mormons, and while I'm not one to put down another's religion, it's done in a rather tongue-in-cheek way that would definitely be offensive to Mormons who don't appreciate having their religion made light of. That being said, that's one less group of artists to include in their target market, I suppose.

I think the thing that makes the movie work is the sheer inanity of the film's premise. It's so inane and so fearless at making light of various topics that it works that way. I don't think toning down the humor would've done it favors, but I guess I certainly could complain that they didn't follow through enough with the film's antics. Yes, it was funny, but simply being a bit more brazen with the acting would've done it more favors. The actors, even during the off-scene moments, still seemed a bit off, except maybe Ben, Joe, Maxx, and the girlfriend. The rest just feel rather... wooden even during the parts where they're not supposed to be so.

Another gripe about the humor is that they seemed to run out of jokes towards the end, really. I guess you can only come up with so many unique gags. The moment the humor started getting a bit repetitive and dragging, the fun factor of the film certainly dropped quite significantly, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the entire film itself.

I'd recommend this for anyone who can appreciate not-so-wholesome humor and politically incorrect jokes about religion. Otherwise, keep away. Orgazmo is definitely a funny movie, and a very enjoyable romp, but the acting could use some help, really.

"Critical" Evaluation: B

.:Today's LSS:.

That Macho Man, he the illest!

Be A Man
by Macho Man Randy Savage

INTRO:
Huh Hulk Hogan, Hollywood Hulkster, whatever they call you, I’m comin

VERSE I
Hot diggity damn Hulk I’m glad you set it off (set if off)
Used to be hard Hulk now ya done turned soft
Doin’ telephone commercials I seen ya
Dancin’ in tights as a ballerina
I knew all along you had those tendencies
Cuz you’ve been runnin’ from Macho like I got a disease
Dude please your pay per view event was a joke
You’re avoidin’ Randy Savage cuz you know you’ll get smoked
Come on that phony fight the Rock spanked you fast
But when I challenged Hogan to a real fight he passed
I called him out but the punk was scared to go
It was a charity event but the Hulk didn’t show
Hollywood Hulkster you’re at the end of your rope
And I’m a kick ya in the butt and wash your mouth out with soap
Cuz like Rodney Dangerfield you gets’ no respect
So come on Hulk let’s wreck so I can put you in check

CHORUS

Be a man Hulk Come on don’t be scared
Your runnin’ from Macho that’s what I heard

Be a man Hogan Come on don’t be a chump
I never thought Hulk would go out like a punk

Be a man Hulk Come on don’t be scared
You’re runnin’ from Macho that’s what I heard

Be a man Hogan Boy you’s a chump
Cuz Hulk Hogan is a real big punk

VERSE II

They call you Hollywood (hugh hugh) don’t make me laugh
Cuz your movies and your actin’ skills are both trash
Your movies straight to video the box office can’t stand
While I got myself a feature role in Spider Man
Ya hidin’ man but when I find you it’s on
And when I slam ya to the dirt you’ll wish you’s never born
I smell a coward mmmm is that you Hogan
Macho’s gonna kick ya butt is the slogan
You try to ignore me thinkin’ I’ll go away
But I’m a keep on messin’ wit ya dude day after day
And once you step to Macho you’re through
The joke’s on you so Hulk what you gonna do
Probably nothing cuz you’re a real big punk
You called my dad up on the phone man you’s a chump
Cuz if you really got static take it up with me
And I’ll punk ya butt out for the world to see

CHORUS

.:The JGL:.

And so it came to pass that last Friday was Sacha's birthday, and of course, miles away though her friends may be, we all came together to celebrate in her name. I got there, ID still laced around my neck like a grinning idiot, but it was all good, as I wanted to make sure I didn't forget my Flashdrive. I'm soooo not a geek.

In any case, a picture paints a thousand words, so let's cut to the chase with one of the most important things that happened that night barring Sacha's birthday itself...

Gasp!

In any case, the party started off with us eating Seafood Kare-Kare, Chibul, Sisig, and Sinigang na Tiyan ng Bangus in our favorite place, Krokodile Grill. Apparently, the song from Steven Seagal's album entitled "Lollipop" really is the "Lollipop" song that Pu3Ska sings! Omigosh, I have to hear this album!

For more amusing pictures, just check out Peppy's post.

After dinner, we headed out to Seattle's Bets to set us up the bomb, err... to set up Wi-Fi on Dom's laptop, as apparently, we couldn't crash his pad since he wasn't alone there and the other people were currently there. Nonetheless, Peppy and I took the initiative to grab some Dulce de Leche ice cream, and the entire group shamelessly asked for spoons from SBC to dig in. Sacha, for once, did not seem fazed to be greeted by seven people all eating ice cream in her honor. Must be because she's going to make herself some of her wonderful lasagna... heh.

So there we were, greeting her, and she was genuinely happy about it. Needless to say, it was immensely memorable for her to have celebrated her birthday like that, although in the middle of it all, my mom called me and asked me to apply as a "Showbiz Correspondent" for GMA-7. What made that amusing was the fact that Sean suggested I should act straight to be a cut above the rest of the gay showbiz correspondents in the network, which Peppy labeled as "no mean feat". Heh.

Quote of the night:

Charo: The game is H? Omigod... omigod... give me a copy!

Anyways, happy birthday again to Sacha. I hope she has more birthdays to come, and I hope she enjoyed our little gathering to involve her somehow. The JGL strikes again. Cheers, sexy! =P

.:Saturdate:.

Elgine and I celebrated our 100th day yesterday, so I suppose I don't have to go in detail about that anymore. Needless to say, I am very happy about it. I've written about her quite a bit already the other day...

.:Back To My Childhood:.

There's just something about having the full Shaider and Bioman DVD's in your hands, although temporarily (Peppy owns them.). I guess since I never saw the endings of either series as a kid, it certainly just completes my childhood to finally see the endings. Now, all I need is to see the endings for Laser Squadron: Maskman.

In any case, I guess I really am kind of a kid at heart. Thinking about how Yellow 4 died in the series years ago still makes me tear up a bit every single time... heh. Looking at Shaider and Annie fight for justice makes me feel nostalgic, too. Playing "what color is it going to be?" just a moment before Annie jumps up in that really cute outfit of hers also brings back memories.

But you know, for the life of me, I never expected Shaider to end the way it did. After finally putting an end to Fuuma Lear, Annie and Shaider look longingly at each other, and, and...

... effing shake hands.

So much for resolving all that "tension" between them... XD

.:A Poll:.

Who sings better: Macho Man Randy Savage, or Hulk Hogan?

Better make sure you have a fast computer and sound to enjoy these musical masterpieces...

If anyone has a red-hot poker, please do help me shove it up my ears now... lol.

Before The Weekend...

.:Today's LSS:.

None for today. I'm a bit rushed, so I don't have time, really. Sorry about that, but the fact that this is a pretty meaty post should more than suffice.

.:Now It's Time:.

As I think the timezones are now configured correctly, I can safely greet my best friend, Sacha Chua, a happy 22nd birthday. I'm extremely happy for you, jabroni, and I hope you're having a ball today as well.

.:A Poll:.

Who’s smarter? Batman, or Mr. Fantastic?

.:Imeldific:.

I by no means am a huge fan of Imelda. However, that does not preclude the fact that she is certainly larger than life, and a person who will simply leave a mark on you once you meet her.

When I took up Ma’am Cecille on her invitation for me to go to Madame Imelda Marcos’ party, I went there with a lot of curiosity. After all, what kind of projects does the former first lady have in mind to make the country a more “beautiful” place? My interest was piqued, so I headed to Mariano Marcos Street in San Juan to see what was up.

It was weird when I finally saw her. She was indeed larger than life, and the moment she walked into the room, I was the first one she acknowledged. I was dumbstruck, as she genuinely seemed to fawn over me and I had no idea at all why...

Anyways, so I got there, and started talking to a few of the other guests, people I naturally was worried of offending. For all I know, they could’ve been very dear friends of Madame Imelda and would defend her honor had I said a single negative word about her, though in fairness to her, she was a very gracious host. She was amused about finding out I was a teaching assistant, as she brought up that she used to be a Grade 1 teacher when she was still young.

After a few minutes of talking to her as she practically repeated dialogue from her documentary (“Oh, when they opened my closet, they didn’t find skeletons. They found shoes.”), we were then ushered to the gym for dinner. The food was great. Whole shitake mushrooms are absobloodylutely nothing to sneeze at. The fried chicken was pretty good as well.

After about an hour or so into the food, she started talking. Let me tell you that it felt like deja vu.

But in fairness to her again, her speech, as soon as it got on track, which was about 5% of the time, sounded promising. She didn’t take any shots at GMA, but rather emphasized how she loves the country and sees it as truly beautiful. Her plan about extracting Deuterium was interesting. The plan to build a tunnel across Luzon wasn’t.

Let’s talk about the latter plan. She feels it’s going to be better than the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal. That’s all good. In 1521. Her pipe dreams of making the Philippines the trade route of choice for all countries is a bit inane because waterways are now more or less not as hostile as they were during the time the Suez Canal was a practical necessity. In short, inane, and a waste of time.

In contrast, the plan of extracting Deuterium as an infinite energy source sounds very plausible. Until you realize that she refuses to turn to private companies or the government for help with this. She simply wants this to be an endeavor spearheaded by her, with the help of the Filipino people in general. Noble? Indeed. Feasible? No.

Deuterium, assuming it’s as good as it’s supposed to be, will displace petroleum. There is no way in Hades companies like Petron and Shell will let their precious company dissolve in one fell swoop just because. Couple that with the sheer expense of retrofitting vehicles to sport Deuterium engines instead of gasoline or diesel engines, and then consider how incompatible our fuel systems would be in contrast to the rest of the world. Projects like these will take a decade or so to implement. Madame Imelda intends for it to be done two years after she beats the raps against her.

And remember that segment about the 7 Pillars Of Moral Regeneration? The one that ends up turning into ten, and how Binary 1’s and 0’s will make something look like an apple, which is a computer brand? Yes, that part that makes you think you were smoking something illegal while watching it? Yes, she said it all in her speech.

Despite that, she was indeed a very gracious host. Wonderful food, wonderful company for the most part, and by the end of it, she gave everyone a gyro-powered flashlight. It was particularly amazing, as it doesn’t require batteries at all. On my way out, she thanked me immensely and apologized for the monologue...

It wasn't so bad, really...

.:A Bit Annoying:.

GOD is good. How's your throat?I hope ur alrdy fine.Wel,im really concern w/yer topics.I jst wld like to suggest TOPiC that everybody cld relate to.Like wat wld b d song that best describes your life/lovelife.Things that wld let them express themselves more,so dat4them to b at home w/LiCENSE2KheL.

This is one of my listeners. Actually, one of WAVE’s listeners. Arguably the most rabidly loyal of them all. And I have a problem with her.

You see, inasmuch as I appreciated it when she was giving me some nice ideas about my show, I began to realize how big a kick she seemed to be getting out of practically dictating to me how I should run my show. Soon enough, I’m getting the hint that she just wants to be a jock in WAVE and have it over and done with.

This isn’t really about me being an ingrate for all her nifty ideas. It’s more about me pointing out how she clearly can be overstepping her bounds as of late, especially since she’s the only person I know who has no idea who Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali are. So why would she think people can’t relate when I ask them which of these two they think would win in a fight?

I think it puts me off a bit, especially since I feel it’s only a matter of time before she begins to throw religion into the mix, as she clearly dislikes Harry Potter solely on that basis, which I find rather rushed and uninformed, particularly when most people who never read the series only have hearsay to base their opinions upon. People who try to be cool by going against what’s popular, and so forth.

Quick Quips

.:Proof That John Cena Sucks:.

He really does.

.:Imeldific:.

Details to follow. Let's just say that she practically repeated everything she said on the documentary.

In fairness to her, she's a very gracious host, and she seemed to be awfully nice to me. I was the first person she talked to upon entering the room, which I found really odd.

.:Today’s LSS:.

She just knocks me off my feet… ::gushes::

Knocks Me Off My Feet
by Stevie Wonder

I see us in the park
strolling the summer days
of imaginings in my head.
And words from our hearts
told only to the winds
felt even without being said.

Refrain:
I don't want to bore you with my trouble
But there's something 'bout your love
that makes me weak and knocks me off my feet.
There's something 'bout your love
that makes me weak and knocks me off my feet
knocks me off my feet.

Chorus:
I don't want to bore you with it
oh but I love you
I love you
I love you.
I don't want to bore you with it

Oh but I love you
I love you
I love you more and more.

We lay beneath the stars
under a lover's tree
that's seen through the eyes of my mind.
And I reach out for the part
of me that lives in you
that only our two hearts can find.

Refrain, then Chorus

… but I love you
I love you ...

.:Five Stages Of Enjoying Suman:.

1. Suman! Yes! Miyerkules na ulit, eh!
2. Uman! Nakakita din ako ng mabibilhan ng suman! Wow!
3. Man! Mantakin mo iyon? Mura na, masarap pa!
4. An! Ansarap ng suman, ano, Dean?
5. N! N! N! Nabubulunan na ako. Panulak naman!

Short, but sweet. Enjoy your suman! =P

.:New Spam:.

My blog is now being hit by spammers. Uggh. I can’t believe how people like these sleep at night. It just boggles the mind how they just spend all their time making fools of themselves every chance they get, filling your mailbox/comment board with all sorts of useless filth.

A pox upon all thee spammers!

I guess it just felt sad because I didn’t receive any comments at all save for spam. It can do wonders for one’s ego, really.

.:Bad Influence:.

So Diane was in the condo with us yesterday, and she was trying to study for some report she was going to deliver.

Unfortunately for her, Ranulf was busy playing Jade Empire, while Mark and I wanted to see Equilibrium and Ong Bak action sequences.

You can guess she had no idea how to do her work at all... heh. She was just completely enthralled by everything her flatmates were doing... heh.

I think it sort of balances with the fact that I have a horribly painful throat right now... hopefully, I don't have something that'd require a tonsillectomy or something to that effect.

.:Why The Hold Up?:.

There's one main reason why my comic strip is delayed, and that's because I don't have the professional opinion of Ms. Jac Ting Lim about it yet. The strip's already done and inked, and just minimal shading and word bubbles need to be added, but I don't want to come out with one strip only to sputter for the next, so I'm already starting on the second strip so that I can go on a weekly or a bi-weekly installment basis of the strip.

I'm curious though... what comes to mind when you hear the title of the strip, “Pamantasan Ng Capiz”? What expectations do you have from a strip titled like that? Do you expect it to be funny? Serious? Well-drawn (Wahahaha! Can't do anything about that...)?

I know few of you have seen the strip or the character designs so far, but I'd like to hear what preconceived notions about the effort happen to be...

If all goes well, you can expect an installment of it every Monday, and of course, the long-awaited return of the Best Five every Friday. Yes, I now have the means to bring it back. Heh.

.:Baptism Of Fire:.

“What's Up For You?” is my new segment on WAVE during my 2-6 AM show where I put a caller on the air and just interview them and ask about how they're doing and so forth. While my first day wasn't as smooth as I hoped it would be, I decided to spice things up by including some poll questions of sorts every morning to ask the caller on air.

Yesterday's callers were okay. I'm glad they were cooperative, but I know I could've done better. Hopefully, I'd be able to give some kind of system to my program, and it would ensure that the callers are interesting but not dangerous to put on air.

Wish me luck. So far, it's been good. Even had one caller from Vancouver. We never know what might happen the day after that, though.

Here We Are...

.:Today’s LSS:.

Call me a sap, but I find most of the sad songs of Boyz II Men among their best work…

Water Runs Dry
by Boyz II Men

Wait
Don’t wait for the water
Wait
Don’t wait for the water

We don’t even talk anymore
And we don’t even know what we argue about
Don’t even say I love you no more
’cause saying how we feel is no longer allowed
Some people will work things out
And some just don’t know how to change

Chorus:
Let’s don’t wait till the water runs dry
We might watch our whole lives pass us by
Let’s don’t wait till the water runs dry
We’ll make the biggest mistake of our lives
Don’t do it baby

Now they can see the tears in our eyes
But we deny the pain that lies deep in our hearts
Well maybe that’s a pain we can’t hide
’cause everybody knows that we’re both torn apart
Why do we hurt each other
Why do we push love away

(Chorus)

Don’t do it baby
Don’t do it baby
Wait
Watch
Don’t wait for the water
Wait
Don’t wait

Some people will work things out
And some just don’t know how to change

(Chorus)

Wait
Don’t do it baby
Wait
Don’t do it baby
Wait
Watch
Wait
No, no baby
We might watch our whole lives, yeah
Don’t wait for the water

.:More What The....?!?:.

Madame Imelda Marcos invites you to a discussion of her projects and how we can help build a beautiful Philippines together at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, August 10, at her home 204 Mariano Marcos Street, San Juan. Dinner will be served. Please invite friends and text Cecille Ferrer for confirmation of your attendance. Thanks!

WHAT THE...?!?

My pre-conceived notions about the former first lady aside, how did I end up getting invited? I suppose it had more to do with ma'am Cecille than anything else, but still, to be invited to Imelda Marcos' party feels rather... odd.

Especially when you consider that my grandfather's second cousin is Ninoy Aquino...

.:Let’s Hope This Works Out:.

To keep things spicy during my watch, my show now has a call-in segment where I get to interview my listeners and ask what’s keeping them up in the morning. Let’s hope it all works out. I’m a bit nervous because listeners tend to try and get away with funky stuff on the air, so I hope none of that happens on my watch. Heh.

I'm trying to market the show as the show of choice for call center people. I guess that's a nice niche to capture...

.:See Ya:.

Went to Jobert's house last Saturday, where I was given a sneak peak to “Orgazmo”, which was a really hilarious film, to say the least. Too bad I didn’t get to finish it, but it’s no big deal.

Got to know a couple of new people, and unless I’m mistaken, one’s from Xavier, the other’s from ICA. They’re both half-Chinese and all, so interesting conversations ensued from that fact.

In any case, the whole party was really fun. I don’t really have to go much into details, but everything about the party was great. From the Videoke (Christmas songs rule. But nobody managed to top Elvin’s score that night.) to Taboo to Guillotine, it was all good. Too bad my faulty memory kept me from remembering who the people I was introduced to were. I only remembered their names, but not their weblogs… ah, well.

Jobert’s despedida, with all the good food and company, was definitely a hit. We’ll miss the little dude, but we’ll naturally keep in touch.

Take care, jabroni. It’s been a great ride with you around again, if only for a while.

Monday, August 08, 2005

Wahehehe...

I need a lot of time to process the whole deal.

It's been a very eventful weekend, and I'm happy about it, to say the least. I just need to figure out how to translate that into a coherent post... heh.

Oh, well. Let's see what it'd take for me to pull this off... I have quite a mouthful. Ah, well. :P

Here We Go...

.:Today's LSS:.

Don't ask...

Set Adrift On Memory Bliss
by Backstreet Boys

Dadadadadada Dadadadadada Dadadadadada dadadadada
(On memory's bliss of you)
Dadadadadada Dadadadadada Dadadadadada (oh) dadadadada

The candle plays the hourglass
The days go and all I do is
Think of you and wonder where you are at night
Oh I remember everything
Every smile, and even all
The reasons why you say
I pushed you out of my life

[Chorus:]
Baby you set me... (Hahahahaha)
Baby you set me... (Dadadadadada)
Set adrift on memory's bliss of you (dadadadada)
Baby you set me... (Hahahahaha Dadadadadada)
Set adrift on memory's bliss of you (dadadadada)

Destiny is everything
Reality's replaced you with
The biggest empty void I've ever had in life (ever had in life) ohh
Bet you say that I don't care
I bet you say that I don't even think of you
But God knows how wrong you are

Baby will you be there when the morning comes?
(Baby will you be there?)
Just give me time (just give me time)
To fix my life (to fix my life, baby)
Baby will you be there when I open my eyes?
After all the time I've spent, wishing you

[Chorus]

Sadness that overwhelmed me
My mind flies and carelessly
Imagines that you're happy with your life right now oh
I guess that's just the was it goes
Forever's gone so now I must
Place you with all the things that I can never have

[Chorus]

So come on now (Hahahahaha)
I know this much is true (Dadadadadada)
I know this much is true (dadadadada Hahahahaha)

.:What The?:.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Listen to his lead single, “Love me Or I’ll Break Your Arm”.

Steven Seagal has gone the way of David Hasselhoff and released his album, which seriously features a track called “Lollipop”. I have no idea what his songs sound like, but I am crazy enough to want to find out… maybe he’s a country artist or something? Then again, his album is selling in France, so maybe not…

While I’m naturally skeptical of actors-cum-singers, I guess the intrinsic threat of having my arm broken for bashing his album before I even hear it is good enough for me to adopt a wait-and-see attitude to his music…

.:A Second Wind:.

I think this is what you would call a second wind for me in radio.

After a very intense meeting in WAVE with sir Joe about various issues (To protect the company image, details of which I shall not mention in public.), I ended up running the idea by sir Gary about me going full-time with WAVE, and I got it.

I will be assigned to the Hip Academy, pretty much the equivalent of Radio 1 for RX or Campus Air Check for LS, along with the Hip Circle/Academy alumna par excellence, Gia. With all the great ideas I have from plugs to recruitment blitzes, I know I’d be doing my part to put WAVE 89.1 back on the map.

It’s time for a Waveolution. You know it. I know it. :)

.:Misheard:.

Kel’s taste in women… he likes Chinitas.

Excuse me? I don’t like Lolitas.

Sabi ko, Chinita. Hindi Lolita.

This was an exchange between me and Anne during the meeting the other day. It was so funny, as I really thought she said I liked “Lolitas”. I guess we tend to hear what we want to hear...

.:Tahong:.

Evil person that I am, I decided to go and pull a bit of a prank on Clair as I got her to agree to feed JM tahong when he would ask for it, without letting her catch on about the double-meaning connotation of the seafood. In any case, it was a pretty humorous situation, as she just stared at everyone during dinner last Wednesday, completely dumbstruck. It got even more amusing when you got to considering that this was a dinner composed of me, Charo, Sean, JM, and Clair. Apparently, Clair was really just the most clueless of the lot. Heh.

Tres

.:I Hope She Doesn’t Mind, But…:.

Serendipity. Indeed, I have seen that at work in relationships, present and past. A slight twist of fate here or there, and one’s life could be so radically different and we’d never even realize it.

Serendipity. Indeed, I know that’s what led me to you. People believe in destiny. I do, too. But I realize it’s up to us to make our own luck as well. The universe can give us all the coincidences we need to make things happen. God, if you’re so inclined, can give us all the coincidences we need to make things happen. But it’s up to us to make things happen, beings of free will that we truly are.

Three months. A quarter of a year. Approximately ninety days. The first trimester of childbirth. Three months can signify a myriad things, countless connotations, both good and bad. But for you and I today, dear Gynius of mine, three months represents a time of happiness. A glimpse of forever with each other. A glimpse that I will myself to believe, because doing so makes me feel so happy, so secure, to be with you.

Three months. A short time that has made me realize so many things. In the span of three months, I had to unmake everything that would’ve unmade me. All my faults, all my shortcomings, all my fears. I’m far from perfect. I still am far from perfect. But by the grace of God, I do try to be just that for you. You’re worth a million and one Herculean efforts, and so much more. In you, I have found some measure of redemption, knowing that this time, I can love far better than I let myself love before. Far more certitude, far more resolve, and ultimately, far more love.

I may never be able to turn back the hands of time, and thank goodness for that. I can’t quite get anywhere if all I would do is to go against the flow of time. The here and the now, the fact that I am a being in time, serves me notice that indeed, I can only do things as best as I could for the first time, every time. Life is one big movie with no cuts, no take two’s, and, quite clearly, no stand-ins. We live our lives, no matter how earnest we are in doing otherwise. Life, far from being a spectator sport, is something that we can’t allow to pass us by, and so I can only look to the present and the future with you. I am hopeful. I am steadfast. And I believe that you and I will persevere amid all the challenges and hurdles we are faced with.

Maligayang ikatlong buwan sa atin. Mahal na mahal na mahal kita. Alam mo iyan.

.:Sumany Things On My Mind:.

On this day, I feel like a really tightly wrapped up piece of suman.

I feel drained, exhausted, and completely unable to think straight. Inasmuch as Def Jam: Fight For NY has been very enjoyable and has provided me with hours upon hours of fun, not even a good massage could save me from feeling as lethargic as I do right now.

So yeah, I kind of feel like suman today. I’m too wrapped up in too many things, and on top of that, I feel like people would just chew me out the first chance they get…

.:Sneakiness:.

I sometimes wonder what things could possibly go with gin. There’s gin pomelo, there’s gin guyabano… but what about gin iced tea? Gin orange juice? Gin mineral water?

That was something I said on the air yesterday. I found it pretty amusing, as it was a very sneaky way to say her name on the radio. Repeatedly. Heh.

.:Windfall:.

I’m getting a Black Lotus! Wheeeee!!!

voldemort02: Wow. Thanks.

A free Mishra’s Workshop! If this is a dream, I don’t ever want to wake up!

.:As Good As I Recall:.

Being in the RX station from time to time still makes me feel rather nostalgic. I’ve given years of my life to that station as a listener and as a trainee, so I have nothing but good things to say about the people there.

I dropped by last Monday, as one of the Radio 1 people who knew me was there, and she asked me about how it feels to be doing the graveyard shift and all. It wasn’t so bad, really. It got even better when I walked into the booth to talk a bit to Chico, Delle, and Brad. I think Delle didn’t know I already got transferred to the graveyard shift as she was asking if I didn’t have any work that day. Brad was asking me for spoilers on Harry Potter, on the other hand, and I was obliging him while making sure neither Chico nor Delle heard it so they don’t get spoiled that Moaning Myrtle died. Lol.

I miss seeing those people. I practically grew up with Chico and Delamar, as I started being a listener to them around their first year as a tandem. I was a freshman back then. Think about it: that was close to a decade ago already…

Isn’t it odd how this news originally came from me before Sacha started passing it on? =P

Weekend Recap

.:Today's LSS:.

It's a divine song. I know someone who really looks to this as her favorite song, and I can't help but agree with her. It's really wonderful...

A part of me wishes she still would stick around. If only in a different capacity...

But it's pointless to wish so hopelessly.

Stick Around
by Azure

How many times do I daydream
about making love to you
and take you to a special place
where it's only me and you
I'll put away all your troubles
on the other side of the world
and run my arms around ur heart
and tell u you're my girl

So let's go steal away in the night
and we'll go far away from here
to the place where our love is right
can I take you to my world

Whenever you're sad
whenever you're crying
I'll be the one who wipes away your tears
whenever you call
whenever you need me
I'll be the one who runs to you
giving my love
well you know how much I love you
so you better not let me down
I'm not asking for too much baby
just stick around

A quiet day in the country
or a rainy night in my room
we'll hide away under my sheets
after the morning comes too soon
an afternoon in your eyes
or a lifetime in your heart
forever just stay long enough
but it leads to take a start

falling deeper in love with you
will you be there to catch me girl
are you falling deep with me too
can I keep you in my world

Whenever you're sad
whenever you're crying
I'll be the one who wipes away your tears
whenever you call
whenever you need me
I'll be the one who runs to you
giving my love
well you know how much I love you
so you better not let me down
I'm not asking for too much baby
just stick around

forever... forever
oh would you come on baby
let's go steal away in the night
and we'll go far away from here
to the place where our love is right
oooh coz

Whenever you're sad
whenever you're crying
I'll be the one who wipes away your tears
whenever you call
whenever you need me
I'll be the one who runs to you
giving my love
well you know how much I love you
so you better not let me down
I'm not asking for too much baby
just stick around

forever... forever

.:Weekend Recap: Friday:.

Much to my surprise, I ended up playing Magic in Glorietta until around 9:30 in the evening. I never even noticed the time, and I was just genuinely surprised that it got to that point already. Regardless, it was still a very enjoyable time, although it was a bit odd to go to Eastwood on my own, with not a single other soul there at all.

In any case, there isn't much for me to say. I've been vegetating on mainly a diet of video games, so I really don't have much of a chance to do anything beyond that. It's all good, though. I certainly had fun getting the Matrix mod into my Max Payne game, and seeing myself as Neo, unloading loads of lead and kung-fu against a myriad of Smiths. You should try it sometime.

.:Weekend Recap: Saturdate:.

Elgine and I are approaching our third month together, and it has been a very smooth-sailing relationship for the both of us, barring outside circumstances. I guess learning to be more patient and less impulsive has certainly helped me a lot in working things out with her for the most part.

We met up, and she was simply stunning, and I couldn't take my eyes off of her at all. To this very moment, I'm still left dumbstruck, thinking how fortunate I am to have someone like her in my life. Good or bad as things may have been in the past, I still can't deny that I so far have had two wonderful loves walk into my life, and I can't help but ask what I did right to deserve such wonderful people.

Gyn was a sight to behold, and I definitely enjoyed my time with her. She was very bubbly, sweet, and affectionate, and I saw how she slowly changed herself to make sure that I will feel very loved. She's amazing that way, and I'm at a loss for words because of it.

So while we were there talking about anything and everything that came to mind, we had lunch at Fazoli's in Eastwood. Needless to say, the meal was filled with very interesting conversations, and it makes you wonder what might have happened if I didn't ever consider teaching Philosophy. For all I know, I could never have met her. Seems to always be the case that the universe has been lining up for me to flex its muscles and prove to me that blessings can come more than once in a lifetime. Who am I to refuse such a boon, neh?

I love you so much, Elgine. We'll be celebrating our third month together this Friday, and I must say that it's been a wonderful relationship thus far. There's only one thing I can think of that would make our relationship even better...

... for it to last forever. ::gushes::

.:Weekend Recap: Saturday Night:.

I'm being lazy and doing recaps without much internalizing and whatnot. I guess it's unavoidable due to the various things I have to deal with. Ah, well.

In any case, I headed off to Jobert's house to see how the people were doing. We mainly played boardgames such as Game Of Thrones, Taboo, and Pirate's Cove, and it was definitely an amusing time for all of us. In attendance were Charles, Henry, Trish, Elvin, and Cyril. Pretty fun times, really, especially when you consider the fact that we even found time to watch Will Ferell's “The Anchorman” in between two games of Pirate's Cove.

Taboo, as usual, proved to be extremely funny, as we were finding various creative means of giving out clues to the words to guess. A Freudian slip that just completely floored everyone laughing for a good two rounds was when Charles was trying to describe a handkerchief...

Charles: I use this often. This is where I put my niggers...

I don't know where the Hades “niggers” came from in the conversation, but it was nothing short of amusing to everyone present, truth be told. We were all laughing so hard that we just had to stop playing for a while to regain our bearings...

.:Weekend Recap: Sunday:.

I joined a massive Magic tournament in Tondo yesterday, and I ran Doomsday as usual. I would've done a tournament report if it wasn't for this:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Take a step or two back from your computer. Ano basa mo sa title nung game?

Out of the people I asked, eight people thought it read “Crimson Sex 2”. Only four people got it right, as the title is “Crimson Sea 2”. I nearly scrubbed out with a dismal 3-3 record, which saw me lose to Oath and Madness, simply because I had the most horrible opening hands conceivable, and mulling my horrible hands didn't solve anything much after all was said and done...

Nonetheless, it was still a great run, and I'd be lying if I said otherwise. It was mainly about enjoying the whole affair. I apparently had quite a few readers of my blog, and it was funny as I had to tell them all about the job opening for the porn writer thing. I still can't find the form, sadly, as it would've been great to see if people would actually apply if I gave them the means to...

I was also instilling LSS into everyone by singing songs like “Joy In My Heart” and “Isang Linggong Pag-Ibig”. I suppose to make up for performing so dismally in the tournament, it would be more amusing to instead just make people have horrible images of Imelda Papin singing or something.

The store owner was laughing his head off with the Crimson Sea 2 fiasco as well, so much that he practically offered to give me the game if I won the tournament. Next time, I shall give it my all to make it there... mwahahahahaha.

.:Mr. Handshake Man:.

While waiting for my boardwork this morning, I ran into something extremely amusing, and that’s this show called Banzai Movie Friday.

One minute and seven seconds with Angelina Jolie!

I know it’s so stereotypical of the producers, but this is really funny stuff, and some of the shows I’ve seen from Japan actually do approximate the format of the show. It’s funny, but I certainly would be one of the last people to think all Japanese people are that way, to begin with…

Nonetheless, maybe I should see if I could pull off a challenge like that myself… heh.

It’s amazing how he did this with Bill Murray, though, since the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to Bill Murray nowadays is “Lost In Translation”… double heh.
